I don't find it scary at all. ^^ I'm glad there are plenty of people out there who feel free to wonder about our long-term future as a species, as opposed to the idiots who think the world's gonna end in the next few years. >>; Lamers...
And I think we should all be concerned about the future, because what we do now will affect generations down the road.
Sure, get it for your dad. ^^ I've done the same thing, getting books for dad that I could also read. X3

The book about the possibilities of the future would scare me. Not because I'd think it would be... strange is the word I guess... but because I'd worry too much about the future. I used to worry too much about the future when I was little. It's not like I'm going to be alive then, anyway, so it shouldn't matter, but I still freak out. XD;
The How to Live on Mars seems like the perfect book for my dad, since he studies the atmosphere on Mars for his job. He'd get a laugh out of it. And if I buy it for him, then I could read it, too. *laughs*
I hope I don't come off as rude--but the first book sounds rather pathetic. I understand that everyone has a right to their beliefs but a flat-out, Christian-bashing book sounds so juvenille to me. The last sentence in the preview you gave is completely wrong from what true Christians believe. We don't live in fear of 'false judgment and moral condemnation' it's belief in a loving God that saves one from sadness and hurt and evil. It's not condemnation but redemption. God isn't an angry God, nor does he want people to be condemned. That's why Jesus died for humankind, so we could have a one-on-one relationship with Him. He's not some big, scary God who just points the finger and tell people, "You haven't lived right, go to hell." No, he wants people to choose Him and be redeemed. I don't want to sound like I'm preaching, because I'm not. I just thought I'd try to get my point across.

@ink.black.sky:
Well, I don't have any control over what they use for a book description, so you're free to disagree with it. ^^
