I downloaded that Avast! and ran it. That was a good idea, it cleared a whole lot of crap off my computer. Several things work better now. Thanks for the suggestion. 8D

I'd ask Des. I've never had the problem. o_O I don't download, but I'll watch stuff off of a cd and I don't get that problem, no matter what the file is.
Well, if you need more RAM, you can just end some unnecessary processes. If you go to run and type in msconfig, you can go to the services tab, click hide all microsoft services (assuming you don't have mac) and click off all the processes you don't need. That'll free up some memory for you.
As for security of codecs, you can download Avast!, which is a virus/trojan/etc detecting program. I haven't tried it yet, the files I download are usually secure. I make sure other people have tried it, liked it, and deemed it worthy via ratings and comments. But it's okay if your protective of your computer; losing everything is a little steep to watch anime lol.

I sent Des a PM, hopefully he might have some idea of what to do. Gome is right... I'd rather not install random codec packs at the moment.
If it's a matter of RAM, ww tried installing more once and it wouldnt work because I needed to run BIOS update. I can try doing that again and see if ti works...
Hmmm...I might actually have to research the problem...again, just make sure you double check everything. Usually, the worst problems have the most obvious solutions. Also, experiment with different codec packages.
And I'm flattered that you thought I was Sangome, lol.

I have DivX already. I can't use regular Windows Media Player without having DivX. I can try using the DivX player though, and see if that makes a difference. It's frustrating though because the CCCP codec and Classic Player should be able to handle everything. It's only certain .mkv files that have gross sync problems for me.

Thanks, I'll give that a try. That sounds like what might be the problem.
I used to use VLC until I was told about the CCCP codec pack and I installed that and used Media Player Classic now.
I don't think it's the source of the files, really. I go to different sites for downloads and the same ones get filtered around to all the various torrent sites.

The problem you are having is either your codecs are out of date, or the file provider that you got the anime from is unreliable and gives out bad files. What you can do about this is google mkv or matroska codec, and you'll see a few "download mkv codec" results. So just make sure you're up to date, then if that doesn't work, make sure the player you are using is capable of mkv. mkv files are up and coming in the world, so the player really shouldn't be a problem, unless it's out of date. Lastly, if none of those work, look for different files from a different source. I've had more than my fair share of download file debacles, all very easily fixed.
Hope this helped!

It's only certain .mkv files for me, too. Most I can play without any problems, but I'm having more issues with the some of the new anime coming out. TotA also occasionally loses it's sync but I can get it back on track with a nudge.
The problem seems to pop up for me when I'm running something else in the background as well as the video. The first thing to do it rewind slightly, which should sync up the video again. If it gets thrown out of whack again, try closing anything else you have running. If it still happens, I'm at a loss.
Hmm... I dunno. I play .mkv as well, but the last time I ran into a genuine problem with one was when I tried to download Heroes and it spewed in my face. T_T I'm not quite sure what to do, since I'm able to live without Heroes downloads.[/useless]

Yeah, sometimes all it takes is a nudge, other times the sync loss is much worse.
