I prefer subtitles myself, but that's mainly because I'm trying to learn Japanese and it's the only way I get to hear it spoken. And sometimes, the dubbed voices can really be totally wrong to my ear. But... I would never spend any energy arguing about it.
it sounds like some people need to find better things to spend their time on. Since technology makes it simple for people to have either or, it shouldn't even be an issue. lol
What's silly is they used your preference for subs as a childish justification. And when I say childish I mean it went like, "Ichigo prefer subs, so there!"
Ah well, I'm glad your as sick of the argument as I am.

This arguement has gone on since the first Anime came to the US, and will continue as long as new people start liking Anime. It seems as though new fans enter the community, and then feel the need to evangelize their particular belief. Just like anything else. I agree with TC though that I'm tired of it.
I'm disappointed that these arguments are still going on. But being a Dragon Ball fan I actually see this quite often amongst those that prefer the Funimation dub and those the prefer the original Japanese (like myself)
When it comes to other anime I just watch the one I can enjoy better, and that's that.
And yet people still complain about dubs. Honestly, its only ever the subs purists who continue to drag the argument on. You never find militant dub fans, only subbers.
Some dubs are alright, while some are not. When the dubs fail, that's when the subs come in, right? It all falls down to personal preference. It's hard to work that one out in discussions.
I'm fine with both sides. ^^ I know the argument will never die, but at the very least I'm sick of someone coming along every so often and trying once again to assert that all dubs suck. I would basically say to them, "You don't like dubs, that's fine. But in actual fact there are a lot of good dubs out there. It's just that you personally hate dubs no matter what. That is not enough of an argument to say that all dubs are bad."
Pretty much my sentiments too. I had previously posted in the same thread that I liked both (because I started with dubs and then grew to like some subs too), but someone replied that they had also started with dubs but then found subs and had seen the "error of [their] ways." >>; A statement I found plain silly.

Since you can get DVD's that have both... I don't see the point in arguing over something like that. o_O

It's just one of those things, yo. At this point it's up to whether you wanna be bothered to care anymore or not.
You know where you stand, you've told others where you stand. If anyone else still wants to argue . . . let them argue on their own time.

Here is my profound answer to anyone arguing sub versus dub, because it came up in my Japanese film class quite often.
