Wow. O.O That's intense. "Throwing fits" was never tolerated in our family, and for that reason it didn't happen. My mom tells of this one instance where my brother was probably two and in a grocery store, and he'd gotten himself so worked up over something he wasn't being allowed to buy that he was in hysterics. The bigger problem, besides being a spectacle in the store, was that if he got himself upset enough, my mom knew he'd throw up. It's just something that happened with him. So, with plenty of people looking on in the store, she threatened (quite loudly) "If you throw up I swear I'm gonna beat you." He threw up. She beat him. People stared in horror. Since throwing up isn't typically a voluntary action, you can understand why people would be appalled. That's not usually something kids are punished for. Needless to say though, it didn't happen again. Brother's been a good little boy ever since. ^^
Other than the "first time for everything," all our discipline was verbal or restrictive, something that has paid off now that I'm out and about by myself a lot. My mom had a way of manipulating our emotions and forcing us to behave, often with a simple glance. She's really quite a brilliant woman. We've all managed to pick up on some of her tactics, using them on troublesome people we encounter. It's a good feeling when you successfully mold someone to behave a way you believe they should, and make them think it was their idea.

Heh, tensions sometimes do snap with family, since you have to live with them every single day. Nobody's family is perfect like they used to believe in the 50s.
I've never gotten as bad as my sister though. I remmeber a few times dad had to carry her to her room over his shoulder as she kicked and screamed o_O That wasn't a pretty thing to wtitness.
I hear ya. "Familiarity breeds contempt." Shika has her moments of "I-hate-the-world-why-don't-you-all-just-die?!", but for the most part, that's my role in the family. We get along just fine, but still... You can kinda tell from some of the banter Shika and I engage in here. It's like that...just fiercer.

Heh, my parents probably wouldn't see it that way. I can be moody, opinated, and rant quite often. I guess it's easier to be sunny to my friends than it is my family =P
You making me miserable is about the most unlikely thing that could ever happen. Nice to know people view you that way, isn't it? ^^ You remind me of Shika, heavily. Our home's "little miss sunshine".

Mm, well if you felt really bad, I can understand not eating anything. Feeling like crap saps your will to eat, even when you're hungry.
Heh, I'll go check out that fanfic later ^^
