Yeah, I was just concerned whether or not you knew stuff like range and techniques, but it sounds like you're more than set. (^_^)

And as a music major myself, let me say that that is one heck of an amount of experience. I am envious. (I miss being in an orchestra.)

I have about 5 years piano experience, 12 on violin, a little over a year on guitar, complete understanding of the tin whistle, four months on shamisen and about a year's taiko experience, playing shime, chuu and odaiko. I’m also a pretty experienced vocalist. My sister has played cello for years, my father trombone, and I've been in a trio with a flautist and near-master pianist for a few years as well - all that exposure helps with those instruments. Plus, playing in many orchestras and symphonies on both the district and state level has helped me get a more rounded impression of the other wind and stringed instruments I don’t have experience with. It of course will be easier to write for instruments I’ve played, but I have a pretty good handle on what many of the others can do.

Finale and Sibelius are the usual stuff the music world uses. Both are good programs, and both have equal crowds of advocates.

My one question would be: how familiar are you with the instruments you're writing for?
