Wait... you didn't know? Dude, Entertainment Weekly knew about this thing months ago. I've been stoked since I found out. ^_^ Avatar is just awesome that way.
I understand your hesitation about watching "American cartoons", but something that's quite encouraging: it's animated in Korea, and the creators are named DiMartino and Konietzko, not your standard American heritage right there.
It could easily pass off as anime, except that the lips flaps aren't generic up-and-down-at-the-same-pace, but actually fit the scene and the shape of the words, and without feeling the need to litter the show with blood and gore, they have some of the best choreographed martial arts and element manipulation sequences you'll ever see.
Don't pass this one up because it's "American". Definitely check out volume 1. You'll be happier for it. ^^
Miss Anonymous: ARE YOU CALLING THE PLIGHT OF PIZZA EVERYWHERE STUPID?!?!? >:O
Dude. That is so wicked awesome. Hopefully some genius, actor child that has yet to be discovered will pop up before their very eyes and be the perfect Aang. (Too bad Toph won't be in the movies until the second one which means we'll have to wait like....48 years. lol)
Ah, well. I'm ok so long as Sokka's in it^^ (he must be adorable, hysterical, and hot. End of story)
I always wanted to watch Avatar but I can't get over the fact thats its American and I haven't watched American tv in like forever and do't plan on it I like my spanish tv and anime can't forget anime. I heard alot of good things about it so I may rent the first volume.
