Legion sounds too much like League to me, but it can conjure up other images that might be useful. Meff.
When it comes to Biblical knowledge, my resources are pretty much second to none. CD library with literally hundreds of thousands of references, all backed by several reputable sources, of which a new updated version is released yearly. They're not for sale, though, so no use trying to find one. Feel free to ask me whatever you like, though. I'll do the searching for you. ^.^ After all, it's a much more reliable way of learning something than internet perusing or going off "what dad told me" for sure.
Ignore this next bit if you must, but something to think about, while we're creeping up on the subject.
What does the Bible say the penalty for sin is?
Rom. 6:23: “The wages sin pays is death.”
After one’s death, is he still subject to further punishment for his sins?
Rom. 6:7: “He who has died has been acquitted from his sin.”
Is eternal torment of the wicked compatible with God’s personality?
Jer. 7:31: “They [apostate Judeans] have built the high places of Topheth, which is in the valley of the son of Hinnom, in order to burn their sons and their daughters in the fire, a thing that I had not commanded and that had not come up into my heart.” (If it never came into God’s heart, surely he does not have and use such a thing on a larger scale.)
Illustration: What would you think of a parent who held his child’s hand over a fire to punish the child for wrongdoing? “God is love.” (1 John 4:8) Would he do what no right-minded human parent would do?

Second, the Tartarus reference confused me for a moment. However, it appears that my thought that Tartarus was actually Hell was incorrect; apparently there is a distinction between the two, since Tartarus is used synonymously with the Abyss (into which Lucifer will be cast for a milennia[sp?]), and the word used for Hell (Gehenna) means "fiery pit", which is Lucifer's destination after the milennia of confinement and the milennia of rule. (Jays, but Revelations is thick sometimes.)
Incidentally, I thought briefly about 'Ishtari" (as in plural), but I thought it came too close to the sound of the Tau'ri, so I discarded it. Still ruminating on some of the others, though, but Nephilim is looking good.
Also, "Legion" was just too . . . ehh. You know? It's a thought, but it feels kinda like an obvious choice ("We are the Legion."), whereas some of the others seem more artful and less cliche.
(Adam, will you please fix the bug that won't let me use accented letters!!)

Oh my GOSH, I completely forgot about them! I mean, heck, interbreeding with humans and angels was one of the reasons for the Flood in the first place (along with the typical degenerative moral situation that seems to recur every few dozen centuries. =P) I'm gonna think about that one for a few hours now, see if I like it.
Anem would be a good code for the project name, possibly.
Malakh - angel
Megiddo - prominent city in the promised land
Gilead - a mountainous region laid claim by two tribes
Bethel - a city with a great strategic location in Israel
Adriel - flock of God
Anem - double fountain; twin spring
Siloam - sent forth; messenger
Resen - executive power
Nephilim - half angel/half man
Absalom
Legion
Sounds like an interesting concept. ^_^ I don't have any ideas on names though. Is this related to that little clip I remember seeing over in the Anthology a while back? I'd have to go and look but I remember seeing a short little snipped of a fight. Anyway, if I think of something, I'll be sure to tell you.
Oh, it could have been epically good, but alas! t'was just a sad fanfiction-y dingus. Pity.
...there is such a thing as too much laughter when I encounter a hard-core fan. That got a little testy. -_-' Poor guy's boned as far as ever getting to know good literature.
Well, the way I see it, most everything can be construed as a ripoff of something. My bone is the predictability, the lack of proper pacing, and the sheer VOLUME OF CHAPTERS.
I mean, come on. Twelve paragraphs for a chapter? Jays, boy, read some heavy lit, please.
(And I only feel so strongly because it could have been good.)
Yeah, it sounds pretty strong. At least it is a better argument for disliking the series instead of "ZOMG TOLKEEN RIPOFFSS!!!!1!", which was the internet shorthand version of this one kid's opinion. I kept on proving him wrong about how it was a blatant Star Wars ripoff instead, but you know how high school freshmen listen...
I've been able to predict almost everything, which amuses me greatly. I even figured out the whole paternal-question in the first book. Something tells me I laugh too much at this.
You mean he actually had enough material to warrant a fourth book? Urgh. (No Urgal puns, please.)
I swear, the kid drives me nutty. Either he moves too fast and doesn't explain anything, or he doesn't move fast enough; so slow, in fact, that you have time to go back and figure out what the heck happened in the fast section. The fact that he has a halfway decent story is what gets me, though, since he could have made it pretty durned cool if he hadn't published so consarn early.
I'll come back and read this later because I've been waiting for you to post something on this World... but I just had to comment while I had my laptop out in school to say:
"OH MY GOD! LOOK AT THE PRETTY BACKGROUND I MADE FOR MY ALLA."
Inheritance Cycle. It's a Cycle now. Apparently, the third book was too large for one tome, so it was split. It's kinda funny you mention this, as there happened to be a conversation I partook in during Creative Writing today about this particular author and the quality of his works. Personally I find the whole thing rather amusing, if that, but I digress...
Well, I found that teaser interesting. Sometimes sci-fi books cannot catch me properly; this definitely did. Seraphim is a pretty cool name for a bunch of super-soldiers, as the name is not something one would associate with soldiers necessarily. If you decide on another name, I do believe that one of total contradictory meaning would be most wise--provided it wasn't corny or nothin'. Irony at times can be one of your greatest assets, don't you know?[/fake Yooper]
I love how it's vague but not in the right places xD My brother says stuff like that all the time (thus lending ever more to Twisted's comparison of you two).
This sounds really intriguing and I look forward to hearing more about it.
Also, I desperately wanted something remarkably witting and stunning to suddenly come to mind that would work perfectly as the name for your group of super-soldier people but alas. I have failed. Seraphim was a really cool idea, though. I wouldn't have come up with that one.
If anything suddenly smacks my brain, I'll tell you.
