Yeah, I experienced that with the Saiyuki fic Shika and I wrote. Whenever I tried to contrive a scene instead of just letting it flow as I typed, it'd be rigid and lifeless. All the detail in the world wouldn't make it jump off the page under those circumstances. Feeling rushed and forcing it doesn't pay off. I think that's what gives volume released manga a great advantage over chapter releases - the constant pressure to produce isn't the same when a deadline is determined by you as opposed to your publisher.
My brother is writing the most epic fanfic of all time, and he has these revelations where he finally realizes why something happens the way it does, and that of course, that's the only way it could happen. He is so engrossed in his creation that I swear he must dream about it at night. XD
Take your time and "hear" everything you need to. We'll be patient. ^-^
Miss Anonymous: ARE YOU CALLING THE PLIGHT OF PIZZA EVERYWHERE STUPID?!?!? >:O
Well, mainly I don't like to just make up things. Feels . . . forced, somehow. Most everything in my universe I've either seen, heard, or logically explained into existence by prodding it into making itself seen or heard. When I start trying to force things is when things get sticky.
So part of the reason building this world is taking so long—or has taken so long, rather—is because I've been letting it build itself when it does, and if I see something that looks awkward I focus more on listening to it, to see if I'm getting it right.
In less words, I say "oh, so that's how that works" more often than I say "hey, I can do this and that'll work", you know?
Out of context, that does sound kinda demented. XP
...which I haven't heard yet what the V'nothrians call it...
I've simply never had anyone refer to having "heard" an idea of theirs, as if an outside source is giving them their information. It's as if these things are being whispered into your ear by a creature from above, or something. Your muse seems to be quite real to you. ^.^

It's quite convenient that you keep "hearing" things. XP
Although I'm chuckling, too, I'm not really sure what you mean there....
