Yea, he died bcoz of normal soldier. But, remember ... its not just a soldier. there r about a hundred of them.
Still ... I think Zack is the greatest soldier in FF VII. He even greater than Sephiroth. Coz, he is the normal one. Not like Sephiroth, Angeal, or Genesis, who have monster power n wings.
