And no, Eros is indeed Greek. Cupid is his Roman counterpart. Almost all Greek Gods have Roman counterparts (seeing as how Rome conquered Greek and took their religion, but Romans are Romans and felt the need to give their new gods 'good Roman names') so sometimes they get a bit jumbled and confused. Eros is the god of erotic love, and the son of Aphrodite, or Venus in Roman times.
