When I read that, I thought, “No wonder he’s such a likable and human character.” Because Spidey is one of my favorite superheroes. (I’ve never gotten really into American comics because they were so hard to find in order, but I was introduced by the ‘90s Spider-Man series and enjoyed the first two movies especially.)

Fun thing: I read in a review on ANN that Deku is reportedly inspired by Peter Parker.
To your comment on Deku being the least masculine of all shonen protagonists, I will present a case to top him: the crybaby protagonist Lag Seeing from Tegami Bachi/Letter Bee.
