I get the whole parody angle which explains her design choice pretty much being a Chunnibyou (someone usually a mid teens making belief they have dark powers), I'm just in the position of having seen Megumin's inspiration for her destructive abilities from way back.
But even for a parody, she's just lacking in material.
I even started by saying it was a hot take which are designed to start debates anyway, I don't dislike Megumin either but giving her all this publicity for what amounts to a fraction of a character with a similar design makes you wonder who Konosuba is really marketed for.

I think the point of it is this is supposed to be a parody of magical fantasy RPG team attributes, so that's why she'd be a "discount" Lina Inverse (I've never seen Slayers, btw).
The comedy is supposed to come from the impracticality of Megumin being a 1-shot-glass cannon who has such a good attack in certain circumstances, but is otherwise useless...and of course the other character quirks.
The loli design of the character mixing with the dirty humor can be off-putting, so I personally favor Wiz more, to where I want Wiz to have her own spinoff series, maybe detailing her story in the light novel about her life before she fought Vanir and became a lich. Megumin already had the movie revolve around her, so a whole third season surrounding her sounds like overkill even though she is the most popular character.
