Interesting combo. Welllll, I'm more of an Ace Attorney fan than Layton actually lol. But that's still...interesting! I love both games separately; I don't know how they'd be together.
Yeah, I agree. It's stupid that they're even resorting to this, especially since they have everything to gain from the bargain while Level-5 doesn't have much to lose either. First grade logic, guys. if you cross over a popular series with a less popular but just as excellent series, fans of the popular series will buy the game and become interested in the other series. This is basically just a giant billboard saying "Hey Layton fans! Buy Ace Attorney!". According to their own logic, this one game should sell better here than the entire Ace Attorney series has so far.
And yes we need gameplay. At the moment I'm predicting that we'll basically have Ace Attorney-style courtroom sequences with the investigation phase being replaced at least partially with Layton-style puzzle hunts. I guess they could probably throw in some story-relevant puzzles for the trials, but we'll just have to wait and see.
I won't lie, I've entertained the notion of something like this, but I never imagined it would work so well, or that it would actually ever happen.
As a sidenote, Capcom says they're keeping this thing in Japan until the US fanbase twists their ear about it, so BE VOCAL, people. This is awesome and we don't want to miss out on it.
