Only word I could think of after reading the article: smooth. Just smooth.
I understand that they kind of had to release him, but it's just going to happen again with consequences.
I thought of Detective Conan when I first saw the title, and like TrigunCat4 said, this could probably be in an episode. *laughs*
But man, what the US society is coming to... Who knows, maybe those creepy neighbors next door have the same contraption to keep out those danged phone company people. P:
Holy Monkey O_O! Society never ceases to amaze me …
His contraption looks like it could be out of Detective Conan too, I can image an episode involving this scenario.
My WTF-moment, well besides the fact that someone concocted this device, was the guy’s quote O_o! My interpretation: “Did it hurt anyone? Hm, no? Damn, that sucks…” . Then they let him go on bail….
WTF police! As if this guy isn’t cuckoo for coco-puffs already XP.
I can’t wait to tell my friends this doozy of a story…

What perplexes me is that they released the guy! o_O
Yes, nobody got hurt by his trap, but he's obviously a nutter and he's just going to do it again and then someone WILL get injured or killed, which could have been prevented if they kept the guy locked up.
I admire people like that. When they want to be left to themselves, they mean it. Of course, I'd never stab someone, but you can be assured that I've wanted to.
This would be one of the best Halloween props ever. Substitute the real knife with a rubber one and you're good to go.

Not trying to downplay the humanity, the legal ramifications or the ethical headache that this whole story brings out . . .

WTF?! Why wasn't that guy sent to a mental institution?! You US and your crazy legal matters...
I'd rather see in shades of gray.

Damn, this is ALMOST as cool as the British guy who saved the cops with his katana.
But yeah, those Verizon technicians...my mother works for Verizon (but in the HR department) and is always complaining about how they're overpaid.
