What is the Watercooler?

It's a haven in the middle of a harsh, 9-to-5 world. A place where you can gather with your fellow human beings and bond over a paper cup full of cool refreshment.

All sorts of randomness is welcome here. Post pictures, videos, special Chat information, or just discuss news and current events.

Not Your Typical Christmas Song

The Christmas season is upon us, folks! And what does that mean? Well for one, we get to hear those good ol' traditional classic Christmas songs that some of you are completely tired of hearing. That's cool.
But hey, there's still some good Christmas music out there that's not your average fair. So let's go ahead and share some of our favorites. I'll start!

Did you enjoy that? Yes? No? Cool.
Feel free to post links to other cool non-traditional Christmas tunes in the comments!

Movie Sign Rewind #7 - Puma Man

What is Movie Sign?
Every Sunday night, we nestle down in Chat and watch an episode of the cult TV show Mystery Science Theater 3000 (MST3K for short) while spamming up the Chat box. Don't worry - we use episodes available on streaming sites so that we can all watch simultaneously.

What's MST3K?
A comedy show that ran from 1988-1999, it's like watching a movie with running commentary. Joel Robinson or Mike Nelson, along with 'bots Tom Servo and Crow, are forced to watch terrible films as part of a mad scientist's bid for world domination. To keep their (and our) sanity, they talk back to the movies and riff on them. A more detailed explanation can be found up at the SoL.

Buh? Rewind?
A clever way for us to combat death, a "Rewind" session means we've watched the episode before and wanted to watch it again...so we are.

Next Episode
Professor Tony Farms discovers that he is really Puma Man from the Aztec priest Vadinho, who tries to train him in the ways of the hero and thwart the plans of Kobras, who is in possession of the sacred puma mask, and plans to hypnotize government leaders with it and take over the world. But Tony is kind of a whiny wuss, spending most of the movie flying awkwardly and jumping around, leaving Vadinho to be the actual hero. There's a blonde love interest in there too.

Host Segment Highlights
Servo, you've got Short Man's Disease. Mike, your haircut is terrible, and being Coatimundi Man isn't going to help the situation. Sorry 'bots, the Aztec mask you built isn't going to control anyway, especially not Roger Whittaker. But hey, the real Whittaker can cheer anyone, even Pearl, up!

Whether a seasoned vet or new meat, we invite you all to come on down! Movie starts at 8pm EST/5pm PST, room opens at the :30 beforehand.

The password for the room is pyooma. Be ready to go and find the video here!

The Rewind goes on and on and on...
12/12 - Episode 613 - The Sinister Urge (w/short "Keeping Clean and Neat")
12/19 - Episode 910 - The Final Sacrifice
12/26 - Episode 321 - Santa Claus Conquers the Martians

Craig Ferguson's Doctor Who opener

A few weeks ago, Matt Smith, the guy who plays the current version of the Doctor on Doctor Who, appeared on "The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson". Throughout the episode, Craig made reference to a fantastical opener that they had to cut five minutes before the show started because they hadn't cleared song rights or something of that sort. He also kept making sarcastic reference to "I hope no one posts it on the internet".

And here it is.

Thank you, internet.

Ringo Sings "Only You"

I'm thinking of posting some music videos of the old, classic songs here in The Watercooler. Not exactly the type of thing you normally equate with spicing up this place, but let's see how this goes.

Here is Ringo Starr's version of the Platters' song "Only You".

Now, the cover is pretty good, in my view. But if you're wondering why Ringo's singing this love song on top of a building in an alien suit and with a UFO, you can look it up here.
