It was a complete and utter shock when I heard about it this morning! I didn't even know she was ill. More and more of the stars from the classic series are going. I think what David Tennent said was true and really nice, that she was such and influential person and that she is as nice as you thought she would be when you met her, and I agree, even though I wasn't around when the series was original broadcasted I do think that she is a great person and a good role model, I would of loved it if I got to meet her. She will be truelly mised!
To her family and everyone who knew Elisabeth Sladen out thoughts and condolences go to you all!

I was hoping to see if Sarah Jane would later in the upcoming seasons of 2005's "Doctor Who" to reunite with the Doctor and the Torchwood group for another time, but seeing Sladen kicked the bucket, such an event may end up in BBC's "scrapped story plot ideas" list. Oh well.
Anyway, my condolences go to the actress's family and to the cast and staff at BBC.

Since I'm new to DW, I have just encountered Sarah Jane Smith in Series 2...
When I watched the episode, I was vaguely recalling this post. I just couldn't remember which companion it was at the time.
