oh, gawd... lucky little cat... that could've been the end of him. yeah, my mother used to pound on the side of the car to make sure none of our cats were up in the engine. eventually, they learned the hood was warm too and just jumped up there. much safer... and our car would be decorated with little paw prints. very fashionable! lol!
cats seem to heal quickly, and your kitten should recover even faster b/c he's young. really glad you're keeping him!! :D have you thought of a name for him?
according to the vet, the only time she ever sees anything like what he has is when a cat sits in the engine of a tractor or something that had been turned off because of how warm it is. she says usually when that happens though, the animal's arm isn't there anymore x_x; but other then that shattered bone, there's been no nerve damage or anything else terribly perminant and should be a-okay in around 6 weeks.
Meanwhile, it's barely been a week since she saw him and his wound is already looking a lot better, and he's running around a lot more, being playful and getting into things he shouldn't be opo; but he's a baby kitty >w> he's doing good. he's already using his lil' leg a lot more then he did before. But yeah we're totally keeping him now.
I'm glad he's doing so well. when the leg heals, then you can have him tearing around chasing toys and stuff, but till then, yeah, be careful with the little guy. I wonder how he got hurt in the first place? makes you wonder... maybe he got hit by a car... I had a cat who survived that. cracked his pelvis nearly in half, but the vet fixed him up and a week later he jumped out the window and went and caught a bird, lol! cats are resilient... nine lives and all that. hope you get to keep him, especially if nobody else wants him. maybe you could just leave food out for the mother cat for whenever she's around...
naah that's okay >w< we're probably gonna keep lil' kitty, but I don't think we'll keep the mama cat. She's not very nice to him and doesn't really like being inside for long anyways >o>;
he however I've been spoiling to death owo; he's really sweet too and loving. I'd do a lot more with him but I'm super afraid I'll hurt his leg. which still doesn't bother him and is looking a billion times better then it did when we found him xpx; Currently he is a very content cat at the moment.
besides, we couldn't find anyone that'd take him in even if we tried. Cats aren't umm... popular around here opo;
oh, ok. wow, I was way off. I was really tired when I read your post and made my comment... maybe if I'd been better rested I might've thought of that... sorry! got to learn to just turn off the computer and go to bed, lol. well, now I hope she agrees to keep the kitties. they sound adorable!
actually the only reason why she doesn't want to keep him was because her last cat (and by her I mean my grandpa's) was such a diva, persnickety and was extremely picky opo; not to mention, she wasn't a terribly loving cat and she had this thing about not using her cat pan -just- because she used it one too many times xpx;
not so much because it breaks her heart but rather animals tend to be "too expensive to feed" opo; we come from the south, she grew up in a farm, and is pretty much used to loosing animals, as crazy as that sounds. She vowed that the last cat was "going to be her last" because she didn't want to take care of something else and paying to feed/care for it.
I understand how your grandmother feels... I love animals, but in the end they just die and break your heart. I've vowed not to have any more cats after the 2 that I have now are gone, b/c I don't think I can bear to keep going thru that. if you're a true animal lover, a piece of you dies every time one of your animals does, and you only have so many pieces. if your grandmother doesn't want to keep the cats, then find them a good home with someone else and let it be enough that you saved the kitten's life and helped them along. I'm really glad they're doing so well, and that the furry little guy didn't seem to be in too much pain.
QAQ poor kitty...glad he's okay though. I hope you get to keep them or at least find them a good place to live.
My mom was against us having any more pets beyond a dog until we found a turtle...then suddenly she wanted cats. Even though she'd never had a cat before...so maybe she'll change her mind and let them stay...hopefully.
