kinda up in the air right now. Chrono Trigger style has been talked about a lot, but we're really just trying to work something new and unique. One of the difficulties I've had thus far has been button-pressed based attacks during battle (ie press A button at the right time to deal more damage during an attack)
Another thing talked about was using various mechanics from Monster Hunter, such as having monsters that run away from you in battle, and you chase them in the map, or dodging their attacks via a button press.
We've also thought about other game formats! Like Fighting games, and platformers!
aaah I don't like RPG maker XP.
Flexability wise, it's powerful sure, and the graphics can go any way you want (you can even have drawings instead of "pixel people"; btw, they are called sprites lol) and it'd look great, but the problem is the programming itself. The scripting and coding system is too much for me sadly x_x'
I prefer using the older RPG makers. Specifically RPG maker 2003. It's simpler, does most of the things I like to do, and the side view battle system is already in the system. No scripting or programming required! only downside is it can be limited graphically, characters HAVE to be sprited, and it does have it's limits system wise.
I think the "fuzzy" was partly due to a MS-paint issue xpx' from my understanding MS paint and RPG maker do not play well together, plus MS paint generally saves most things not .bmp in poor quality.
RPG-maker XP I think. She tried to draw her own characters too, like, using Paint to edit pixel-people, then loading them into the game. Looked a bit fuzzy, or wasn't as smooth mooving, but I suppose it is more fun to create things yourself. I think she did a good job for a novice -- I wouldn't have a clue!
She's just writing a book now XD a tad easier than programming a story into a game perhaps.
lol it's amazing what one can really do with that program if they take the time to learn the more advanced stuff, though I'm no where NEAR as good as I could be I suppose.
I think one thing people are starting to kinda sorta get is that I want to actually make and finish a game, but moreso that I've actually partnered up with a friend to help keep that focus in play, and that helps a lot.
on a side note I could totally see a Golden Sun remake being made. that wouldn't be too difficult.
just outta curiousity, what version did she use? lol
My sister used to make things with RPG-maker ^^ I liked her little games. I think she wanted to imitate Golden Sun. Good luck with your games and stuffs :3

Mmmhmm Paint does tend to mess graphics up a tad. I don't think my sister carried on with the game though. Her PC is rather broken right now anyways.
Sprites! I forgot they were called that XD haha.
Best of luck with your game -- what kind of thing are you making?
