Haha, it appears as though I must think of a different topic for my appearance next Tuesday! My original post is too similar to yours, Katana. (The main difference is mine has more swearing and filthy jokes in lieu of intellectual insight. That's how I roll.)
That's why I sometimes find writing for the internet a bit hard... You don't exactly know who or what kind of people might stumble on your writings, and what effect it might have on them.
I've always felt that one of the biggest problems for writing work comes from when people complicate their speech in an effort to sound more formal or impressive (except they instead just confuse themselves and sound like monkeys).
XD I love how you describe that problem so perfectly.
Anyway, I enjoyed this. It's too easy to attempt to impress instead of simply writing without all the extra fluff. Hehe.
Hehehe...I think it was an excellent article Katana. I truly learned something out from this, I especially pay attention next time I write something because I do tend to make my sentences more complicated than they should be heh so I'll keep in mind those questions each time I need to say or write something in English=D

I think in that sense, I appreciate the "if it is possible, cut it out" rule as well as the "never use the passive..." which more or less leads straight back to streamlining and lessening your word count.
Or something. Anyway, thanks a ton for this post, Katana! Sometimes the most memorable lessons come not from learning mechanics, but from learning new outlooks and mindsets.
And yes, Bell' needs to repost the "How To Write FanFiction" thing again. Seriously. She needs to do ittt.

Well. That was fun. 8D
Is this image fresh enough to have an effect?
I think this point is particularly important; descriptions/similes are waaaay more memorable when written in a way that's unique & still paints a clear picture in the reader's mind. ^-^
Hahahaha! Aw, don't say that, I really enjoyed it! That list of questions is important for everyone to keep in mind, and your tone made me laugh. I hope I'll see more of you around the Bloc?

Guess I need to put these things into mind, eh?

Well. Since you clamor for it, I guess I'll venture into the endless pit that is my documents folder.

Mmm . . . new, different, and flavourful.
Oh how I love guest posts.
