I found it ._____. The essay stuff. The key to my essay
And you wrote about EXACTLY what I needed to remember! Last year I got one of the hardest english teachers in the school but she taught us the best technique. To ask yourself a question after every statement, but she didn't help us on conclusions. So I ended up just re-worded the intro a lot. Which made it suck >____> So that 'Why do we care?' technique helps a bunch.
And with that, I'm going to copy/paste this post into Word for easy access.
You're totally awesome Someguy
I think the thing about that, though, is that it's completely unnecessary either way.
Like, obviously the given essay is the person's opinion; that said, the essay never needs to say "in my opinion, ______". By that same token, it should be fairly inherent that the reader does indeed have the choice to agree with the essay or not; the essayist neither needs to give such permission nor does the essayist have the power to enforce such permission.
Even if using an "I leave that choice to you" doesn't hurt an essay thesis in any way, it certainly doesn't strengthen it either. Ultimately, you write an essay to make a specific point; regardless of how solid or concise your essay is, if your absolute very last thing you say - the last thing a person will remember from your essay - is that you then went "so yeah, I kinda mostly think you should probably take my thoughts into consideration on this subject," well . . . why should we care about your opinion if you can't solidly believe in it yourself, right?
On that "the choice is up to you" bit, I think it would be appropriate if the writer expresses his own opinion on what he believes, then wrap it up with a "if you agree with me or not, the choice is up to you."
That would be better, I think.
(Oh, really?) Yeah, because it just makes more sense to let them have a piece of your brain after all that listing of points. (why do we care?) Because...

I see your point, now that you put it that way... That statement surely does sound useless as an essay ender.
