Well, in my opinion, the title of a piece of fiction tells something about the story. Whether it's the actual premise or something that the author merely wants to convey (or have the reader keep in mind as they're reading), the title is another tool to help the reader better understand what's going on.
But that's just my take.

Nonfiction titles are usually fairly straight-forward, yeah. But that's not the question . . .
I dunno, I can't say there's a straight-forward formula or guide to coming up with titles. I think titles are often something you toy around with throughout the whole writing process, and maybe even change often as you go through.
Haha, yeah, I might need to think about this some more. All I can really say is that a good title can often really crank up the overall project. I know, not what you want to hear. "I don't have any ideas for making titles, but if you mess them up it's all over!"
I will say, though, that more often than not a simple-sounding title does usually start to float up above other things as you go along. Like, the more you understand what your story's about, the more the title takes shape.
This'll be a good one to think about, though . . . hmm . . .
I always have trouble making titles for fiction... Non fiction stuff are much easier to make. Any guides on this? Maybe a Tuesday poster can take charge? Thanks.
