I know they were real, I just know it. The fear in their eyes and the plea in their voices as I watched them disappear made them real. No one really understood and they all treated me like a kid.
But I wasn’t a kid anymore and I was going to prove it. That’s why I left and that’s why I wasn’t coming back.
“Let’s go already. It’s this way. I’m sure of it.”
“That’s what you said the last five hundred times.” Daniel grumbled as we walked down a dark alley.
It was times like this I really wish we had thought ahead a little more than we ever do. It did not take much longer before our shaking heads collided and we were both cursing and grumbling.
"Like I said," I told Daniel, "never going back there. And that's that."
