Ohh...that makes a lot of sense. Thanks very much, that's a lot of help :)
Oh, and, I really like the introductions idea! And the birthday thing! I think they're really cool :)
Heya. Sorry for the long delay in answering this - it's been a hectic month.
I really think it's up to your own personal preferences. There's no real rule saying that chapters have to all be about the same length. It has it purposes, though, so it's really up to what you prefer.
For myself, I like chapters to be fairly self-contained in a way. So they'll start, have a little story arc that leads to a nice high point or revelation or change in the overall dynamics of whatever, then finishing with a decent cliffhanger feeling to lead into the next. That isn't always the full formula, granted, but y'know.
There's definitely no right way to go about it. Not from my point of view, anyway - though that's me. If you'd like, I can make a post so we can buzz/page everyone else on the site for their input?
Umm...could I ask a question? Is that okay? I mean, if it isn't then...you can just ignore this or whatever...
I was just wondering how to split a proper story into chapters, like one that's long and an original work? I mean, should you wait until it's finished and go back to split it up so they're even, or should you do it as you go along and just hope that they're all equal?
Um, I'm not sure if that makes enough sense...But yeah. Um, sorry and thanks :)
Yes, it did modify right away on both my World (as expected) and the main Fan Word page (as hoped). I'll admit that it's very convenient to have the Words setup like that, in conjunction with the World's post. Thank you!
I have a question about editing a published Fan Word, if it's possible to edit one.
I noticed some time ago an annoying typo in my published article, and I would like to revise it to get rid of it. The only thing that holds me back from doing so is that I don't know how my editing my own World will affect the published article. If I edit my own World to get rid of the typo, what will that do the the one on the main page?
If I can fix the typo, I would like to add something to the top or the bottom indicating that some revision had been done to the article, since it was first published. Something like:
First published 11/15/08; revised for typographical error 01/11/09
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
So, kind of a general question for anyone still paying attention: when working with dialogue in a fantasy or medieval setting, how does one deal with contractions? and are there any other speech patterns you might want to watch out for?
Well Im finally out of school and seems Im always late for events.Still I be hoping there is a christmas even to participate .I will just wait patiently for the next one.
It seems like I haven't been here in ages. But there is a reason I'm here: I've come for the assistance of a Beta Reader. In fact, I already have one in mind. I just thought I'd stop in and tell everyone that, yes, the Beta Readers are indeed important members in our little society. It's good to have them available like this without having to search aimlessly throughout the many Worlds. Well done, Writers Bloc!
Um, well, Rishi does. *raises hand* Rishi was wondering if someone could beta-read a two chaptered fic Rishi wrote...Rishi hasn't posted it yet, cuz Rishi isn't sure if it's good or not.
If someone could beta-read Rishi, that would be nice. *nod*

@Pleiades Rising:
Ayup.
I'm fairly positive that if you modify it on your own world, it'll also edit on the published one.
Give it a try, and get back to me. If it's still the same, I'll see what I can do for ya.
