Breaking Away

Hello everyone,

I just finished my laundry and making something to eat, and i thought id put up a post for you guys :)

I had a pretty fun night last night, even though i was pretty much home alone the whole time lol. I spent most of yesterday playing UFC Undisputed 2009 for xbox360, trying to get one of the acheivements and then i spent some time back and forth in the chats while i was watching some wrestling dvds and posting on my Wrestling World.

Once it started getting late, i went into one of the other rooms and took the vcr so i could hook it up in my room (since my vcr is acting crazy lol) and i started watching some of the anime that i have on vhs :)

I was able to watch -

Macross Plus
Voltage Fighters: Gowcaizer The Movie

Before i fell asleep lol.

Right now im watching Yu Yu Hakusho The Movie: Poltergeist Report, and im hoping to post about that film in this post, once it is finished :)

It actually wasnt that long ago when i last watched Macross Plus, it is actually one of my favorite animes right alongside Mobile Suit Gundam 0083. It has been a few years since i had seen Gowcaizer The Movie and the Yu Yu Hakusho movie though, so thats why i chose to watch them. You guys know how i like the old stuff lol.

Well, i thought id post pics of my tapes up, along with some youtube videos (if there are any), an a little info - so you guys can check out these anime movies if you havent already. I sure hope you all enjoy :)

Macross Plus

Ive always loved Macross Plus, ever since the day i got lucky and recorded the 4 Episode OVA on Movieplex. Shinichiro Watanabe's (Cowboy Bebop) touch can be clearly seen in this anime , and Yoko Kanno's music takes it over the top, especially towards the end of the show. Macross Plus and Mobile Suit Gundam 0083 stand as equals in my animation collection when it comes to mecha based anime. These two animes are far more than just a bunch of robots flying around, they both peer deep into the souls of its characters and bring out the best that can be offered. I HIGHLY RECCOMEND Macross Plus to any anime fan, so be sure to check it out :)

Voltage Fighters: Gowcaizer The Movie

This movie is actually one of the very first anime movies i ever owned, and i was very lucky to have been able to record it as well. I remember back then, that i didnt really care much for the movie, but i was so eager to get more and more anime tapes and dvds, that i would buy and record anything i could find lol. I just recently learned that this anime movie is based off of a fighting game on Neo Geo, which was cool to learn, thats for sure. Last night i watched this movie for the first time in about 10 years and im proud to say that it was alot more enjoyable than i remembered :) The action was good and the characters were pretty cool as well and there was even some nudity in there (which i didnt remember lol!) which caught me by surprise lol. Overall, it was fun to watch again and gave me something refreshing to watch after all these years. Sometimes it's good to go back and watch older stuff :) Id reccomend this anime movie to other people who may be fans of Fighting anime films such as Street Fighter, Darkstalkers, or Fatal Fury!

Yu Yu Hakusho The Movie: Poltergeist Report

Geez, it had been about 10 years since i had watched this movie too, but i just now finished re-watching it. To be honest, the movie itself is actually pretty good, but the downside is that all of the voice actors are different. there are also some name alterations, as you may notice in the youtube video i posted under the pic of my vhs tape. Hardcore fans of the current voice actors may be turned off by this movie, which was released quite a few years ago, but i must say that besides the compared differences - that this movie is still fun and enjoyable. Im sure this movie has been re-released with updated voice actors by now, but the version i have is the original, so ill have to make do with that lol. This movie seemed pretty long to me and i had a fun time despite the above reasons, it's certainly worth watching for the action :) I reccomend it for you guys, so give it a try :)

Well, i suppose that will be all for today, im about to watch some more anime that i have on vhs and probably be lazy until i have to go to work tonight lol. Im glad i was able to post some stuff up for you guys, i sure hope you all enjoy it. Let me know what you all tink, hope to chat soon :)

stay strong,

Yamcha

Where Has Yamcha Been?: Part 2

Well, here is part 2 of my post,

Here is the 3rd anime movie that ive owned for years and finally watched recently lol,

Steamboy

I bought this specal gift set dvd the day it came out 5 years ago. When i got home i watched about 20 minutes of it and then fell asleep and i never watched any more of it until a few weeks ago lol. I was sitting here bored and so i pulled it out and decided to finally watch it. This movie was pretty long (2 hours and 6 minutes), but i found myself enjoying it quite a bit especially towards the end. I'll admit that i do like AKIRA (also directed by Katsuhiro Otomo) better, but this movie was still awesome.

The special Gift Set version i own came with :

The dvd of the movie
A small Artbook of sketches from the film
About 10 Postcards
A Steamboy Manga book

Its a quality movie when it comes to story and animation and i highly reccomend it to all anime fans :)

Here are pics of the New anime dvds that ive bought recently :)

Dragonball Season 1 dvd set

I was really excited when i saw this dvd set at Wal Mart a couple weeks ago when i was about to leave work lol. I had been having a bad month and when i saw it, i immediately felt better lol. I bought it right there and then came home and started watching it. This dvd set is actually one of my favorites that i own now, simply because it has the original Opening and Ending themes that i always loved from the series, and the animation had been cleaned up alot as well. I was also excited because this box set was uncut, which is also what i had always wanted to see. I was able to see quite a bit of stuff that wasnt shown on Cartoon Network back in the day when they use to show it, thats how i got the screenshot for my current Avatar here on Theotaku lol. Me and Xaos chatted quite a bit about the series as a whole and everything and i sure hope to chat more thats for sure :) I highly reccomend this dvd set, it stands the test of time and its good for kids or adults :)

Ghost In The Shell 2.0

Ghost in The Shell 2.0 is basically a re-release of the original film, but it has recieved a Audio and Visual Overhaul. All of the original animations have been re-produced using the digital and film technologies and some scenes have been re-done using 3D CGI (Animation similar to Final Fantasy Advent Children). Hell, even the original voice cast returns with new recordings and the music has been overhauled as well by Kenji Kawai using 6.1 Skywalker Sound.

First i'll start off with the things i didnt care for -

The scenes that were redone with 3D CGI animation seem a little out of place. In my opinion , it kinda took away from the awesomeness of the original version. I was also a little dissapointed that the dvd had no bonus features whatsoever lol, It has "Play Movie" "Scene Selection" and "Credits", thats all lol.

As for the things i DID like -

The new Audio track is really awesome, with surround sound everything sounded really good and clear, and the new music tracks were great to listen to. The Audio overhaul is probably what i liked most about this dvd. I'd also like to say that even though i didnt like the CGI segments, the overall animation overhaul was done quite nicely. You can tell the animation is more clear the moment you watch it :) Ghost in the Shell has always been one of my favorite movies, and im a big fan of some of Mamoru Oshii's films (Patlabor 2 The Movie, Perfect Blue). Id say this version of the movie is a pretty cool upgrade for GITS fans, and would be a good movie for other anime fans that havent seen Ghost in the Shell before, i dont think it is worth the 20$ i paid for it though lol, maybe 14$ is a better deal. I reccomend it to you guys even though im partial to the original version lol. I guess im old fashioned lol :)

Well i suppose that will be all for part 2, i sure hope you all enjoyed the post, and it was good to post for once, especially after so long :)

I hope to chat with you all later :)

stay strong,

Yamcha

Where Has Yamcha Been?

Hello everyone lol,

I noticed that i havent put up any decent anime related posts since last year, so i'm finally here to remedy that. In a way ive been busy and in a way, i havent. Lately the past month has been a drag, mostly due to the fact that my car isnt working lol. Im sure it can be fixed and i have the money to pay for it, ive just been waiting for my idiot step dad to come and look at it so he can tell me whats wrong so i can get it fixed, really simple right?

Well since i cant drive anywhere, (unless it is with my brother's car) ive just been sitting at home - playing videogames i never thought id play, and finally watching some of the anime dvds i own that i have never watched since buying them lol.

Here are some pics of some anime dvds that i have watched recently -

Inuyasha The Movie: Affections Touching Across Time

Now ill be honest, I've grown out of Inuyasha - but after chatting with japan86 one night/early morning, i decided it was finally time to watch my copies of this movie and the 2nd one. To my surprise, i actually liked this movie. There were still some aspects of Inuyasha that i didnt care for, but as a stand alone movie it was better than i thought it would be, thats for sure lol. i had owned this movie for about 4 years before i finally watched it - how crazy is that? it is certainly worth buying though, since it should be drastically cheaper now, i paid 20$ for mine lol.

External Image
Inuyasha The Movie 2: The Castle Beyond The Looking Glass

Since the first Inuyasha movie was enjoyable, i expected this one to be enjoyable too - but i was let down pretty quick lol. It's a decent movie, but it becomes pretty predictable, simply because i knew better than to beleive the opening 5 minutes of the movie lol, because naraku isnt just going to die that easily, thats for sure. This movie reminded me alot the anime "Blue Seed" though, with the plants and stuff like that. all in all, i felt this movie was ok, but it seemed like it was thrown together pretty quick and parts of it are pretty cliche'. Id say it's worth buying if you are an Inuyasha fan, but i would certainly not pay 20$ for it like it did lol.

Rurouni Kenshin Season 1 Box Set

Ive had this box set for quite a few years, and a couple of weeks ago i pulled it out and started right back where i stopped watching it about 5 years ago lol. I still enjoy this series quite a bit and i felt kinda bad that i neglected this box set for so long. Im on the last of 6 discs and the episodes are getting better and better as they go on, not many series can boast that, for sure lol. I may have to make some RK wallpapers sometime soon as well, so be on the lookout for those in the future :)

Ive also bought some new anime dvds, and there is also 1 more anime movie that ive owned for years and fnally recently watched, and ill be posting those up in another post right after this post :)

Lately ive also been playing alot of XBOX, mostly WWE RAW 2, and ill be posting pics of that on my Videogame World, along with info and stuff, so be sure to check there as well :)

Today im probably going to clean my room up and play some more games, it's suppose to rain a bit more today, so im just going to stay inside and be lazy lol.

Well, i suppose that will be all for this post, ill be putting up the 2nd half post in a little while, so be sure to check back :)

hope to chat with you all soon :)

stay strong,

Yamcha
