The only (and most important) difference is that shounen-ai doesn't include sex scenes, it's just about two guys falling in love. If there's sex in shounen-ai, it will be implicit. The difference is the same between shoujo-ai and yuri :)

You know, I kind of agree with you. I mean, I don't like most of the yaoi because they are too... cliché, somehow, especially the characters. I just don't like when the only purpose of the plot is to get the characters to have sex, basically.
But, I can suggest to read Seven Days, it's really beautiful :)
