You're right. Iceberg lettuce is nothing but water. But the greener greens like romaine lettuce, spinach, etc. are very good. :P Just gotta watch the dressings.
Oh, I never knew that about salads! Well, I eat salads all the time in school, because I like salad (not cause of dieting reasons). :D
And, I know that premade foods are bad, but I meant more of like, those frozen asian foods....my family gets them from places like 99 Ranch and Zion, I don't know if you guys have those stores over there.
Well, in the end, just stick to asian foods! :DDDD
Iceberg lettuce is high in fat as it is. And, your body actually doesn't use lettuce, itself. Lettuce is basically just water and Chlorophyll. That's why it's so easy to burn off, it's mostly water. And, I don't like the taste of chlorophyll, so I won't eat it. BUT! I do love carrots, broccoli, tomatoes... so, I do eat those. ^^ I might have to buy some and start packing them around for snackage.
I totally know what you mean. You'd think that the more the food is processed, the more it would cost. But things are so mixed up over here... Do the best you can. Try buying those bags of greens for salads and eating some more of that. :D
Unfortunately, I don't know anyone who could commission you... If I did, I'd surely send him your way. xD
Actually, yes! Things with a low G.I. score would be perfect and I've already started researching and eating them. The only problem is that, sometimes, low GI scores do not mean low amounts of carbs, and I have to be weary of that.
Oatmeal is good, and cinnamon is actually supposed to be beneficial for diabetics to help regulate their blood sugars. I don't always have time to eat at home in the morning, though, and they don't offer oatmeal at school as far as I know.
Things that release sugars slowly can be good, but can also be bad. This is because any insulin I take is gone within 2 to 4 hours, faster if I'm exercising, which I am almost always at school. ^^;
Ah, it sounds like you might have non-diabetic hypoglycemia. This is because you eat too many carbs (sugars and starches) in one meal, so your blood sugars rise. But, if you didn't eat enough protein WITH your sugary food, your blood sugars plummet, causing you to feel tired and fatigued.
So, next time you eat a meal with a lot of sugars and starches (like potatoes, bread, corn, etc...) add some meat or eggs to it and see if that helps.
I know that when my sugars are low, it's best for me to eat some protein with my candy-bar (so, I usually get a glass of milk, or some peanuts as well. Mmm... peanut-butter... Reese's is my godsend!) so that when my sugars come back up, they don't drop again suddenly.
Thanks for your input! Hope I could help you a little. ^^;

Hah, you offer good advice. The only problem is that I don't like salad. Salad isn't good for you anyway, it's all a lie. Iceberg lettuce is actually high in fats. And, when you eat salad, lettuce offers no sustenance. Basically, you're getting just fats from the dressings and croutons you're adding in.
Lettuce itself... your body doesn't use it. It's basically Chlorophyll and water. And, I don't like the taste of Chlorophyll, so I tend to stick to raw or cooked vegetables. ^^ Otherwise, yes, lettuce is very healthy, but only because it's so easy to work off. You're just using the water... y'see?
As for noodles. Most noodles are made from flour and wheat, which is high in carbs, which is what I'm trying to avoid for the sake of bringing my sugars down. Noodles made from eggs might be alright, though. However, they're rather expensive, from what I've seen.
We do frequent Costco, but not so much anymore. Pre-made, processed foods aren't very healthy either, even though they are a staple of the American diet nowadays. ^^;
I love asian food! XDD I might have to start making some and boxing it up... maybe make my own bento! XD
Thanks for your input~!

The numbers, like 392 and 215, are my blood glucose readings. Those particular numbers are VERY high and, if not brought down, can result in ketones released into the blood stream, which can cause me to go into a coma.
There have been reports of some diabetics just walking along like everything is normal, then suddenly passing out and going into a coma right there on the sidewalk. These are results from long-term exposure to high blood glucose readings and ketones being let go into the blood stream. I can test for ketone levels whenever I want by pissing on a stick. It's kind of like a pregnancy test. XDDD
The more often your sugars are high, the higher your A1C test is. And, mine is VERY high. So, I want to bring that down, bringing down my risk of ketones developing, and lowering my risk of going into a coma.
And, yes, I'm trying to eat less pre-made foods. It's hard, though. America is pretty reliant on these foods, actually... and the less-processed something is around here, the more it seems to cost... and I don't exactly have money. ^^;
Hey, if you know anyone who'd want to commission me... you know... maybe point 'em this way? ;B3 XDDD
Would things with a low Gi score help? Thinks like porridge and nuts, or wholegrains, as they release their energy slowly and steadily? I've been told to eat those as I have some weird blood sugar... Thing. I don't even know what to call it! But I get really lethargic after I eat things, especially if they are sugary or things like potatoes. I'm just weird...
I thing this diary is a really good idea! Good luck with it!
Oh my goodness! Only HALF a plum and HALF a cup of yogurt for breakfast?! You should eat like, whole grain bread! Your lunch seems okay at least.....but dinner........eat salads or noodles, or go to Costco and but some of those premade rice things.

Lol, yeah... 'cept, it's the Chlorophyll that makes them green and I HATE the taste of it! >.<;;;
Oh well. There are other foods I can eat that are still healthy for me, too.
And, then... I met you.

Contrary to what the first person mentioned, eat as less "pre-made" food as you can. Whole grains are good however.
Sounds like you did better Monday! Good for you! See the goal through to the end. :)
By the way, what do those numbers (392, 215, etc.) mean?
