well marauding captain, d.d warrior lady, penumbral, and goblin recon squad are really good warrior cards with great effects. black rose dragon and rainbow dragon are great dragon cards. obsidian dragon has a 2100 def. if you flip summon magnetic mosquito it destroies all faced-up machine-type monsters.
It's a hobby, not a lifestyle. I pay a lot of attention to m cards. Here's another one: If you have http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Exxod on the field, play http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Mystic_Wok facedown. When your opponent tries to destroy Exxod, just activate it and you gain a full 4000 lp.

Well one example I love (because it comes in handy) is when your opponent has a stronger monster on his/her side of the feild than any of your monsters. They have the advantage right? I like to use change of heart in a situation like this and use their monster as a tribute for one of my more powerful monsters.

Ok... I'm a duelist outside of my little Soul Reaper world XD, and I have a mostly offensive deck and a second deck that is mostly defense (Sara can vouch for me on that much considering I kick her butt, sorry sis), but when in a duel I know will be intense I find that crossing cards from both decks can be very useful. Like addind one or two of my blue eyes or red eyes to my defensive deck, but it works both ways. Try making strategies from your first hand and adjusting them as you see fit. If you opponent gets the upper hand find a way to turn his/her advantage into a disadvantage, use their own strategies against them. I hope this helps some Yoru.

Mine has http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Theinen_the_Great_Sphinx and he's so powerful that I've taken an Egyptian God Card down with him. If you put him in, remember to have the other 2 Sphinx used for his summon, a pyramid of light or 2 (which I don't have) and monsters like http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Hyena or http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Bubonic_Vermin if that doesn't work. (you can also use them as a tribute for high defense monsters like http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Labyrinth_Wall or to stall your opponents long enough for a comeback.) If you are using an Earth Defense Deck, always include http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Giant_Rat , http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Criosphinx and http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Exxod . This will drastically increase your chances of a comeback. I use this Combo all the time.

Hi there fellow duelist. Although I'm using a Warrior deck, these are some cards / advise for a defensive deck. Earth / Rock monsters have high defense. Monsters that cannot be destroyed by battle can help for your defense too.
Some monster cards that can help:
Sand Moth, Exxod Master of Guard, Marshmallon, Spirit Reaper, Giant Soldier of Stone, Big Shield Gardna, Criosphinx, Gate Defender, Mine Golem, Yubel, Castle Gate, Black Wing Armor Master, Shield Wing

*Usually will resort using spell/monster/trap effects to destroy if can't destroy by battle
