"Hmph." Hiei suppressed a smirk. "If you're looking for a spar...I suggest you call this off before it begins." He tugged off his shirt and threw it aside.

Zippp. Instantaneously, she had cleared the distance between them, in what would take a human to bat an eyelash...but he wasn't there when she arrived.

"Nnn!" She turned around and flicked her head back, missing his fist. He's as fast as me! She countered his blow in a flexible twist and came at his side. In less than a moment, he was directly in front of her, in her face. She did a back flip to avoid his punch and a cartwheel to barely save herself from a kick that would have broken her ribs.

Well... I at least have his range down... He shouldn't have shown me how far his punches and kicks go off the bat...

She lunged at him to attack, her claws glowing. There! He punched and she easily maneuvered around it and went for the strike. "!!" She backed off at the last moment, as his katana bit into her shoulder and sliced a shallow wound. It would have been crippling, had she followed through as planned.

Crap! I'm not used to fighting someone who's as fast as me! It completely throws off my tactics! Suika thought.

As they brawled, a hiker trotted by through the trees. Splat. A few drops of blood landed on his cheek. "?" He looked in the direction it came from and didn't see anything. The battle that was occurring was so rapid, they might as well have been invisible. He wiped his cheek and passed on, puzzled.

No matter how I come at him, he always appears in front of me... Suika braced herself. ...That will be his downfall. She reeled around at him. Devastating Destruction claws!

Hiei appeared in front of her and she slashed wildly, reducing him to tiny chunks.

"...Having fun with my after-image?" Hiei asked behind her.

"!!" She jumped straight up, getting her hair cut and almost losing an ear.

It's impossible to strike him with my claws dead on, if I don't know where he'll be next. She narrowed her eyes. ...But I won't lose to him. He came at her, ready to strike. Cat's Cradle!

Aura shot out from her glowing claws and encased her like interwoven string, then it lashed out in all directions.

"!" Hiei's eyes widened as he jumped backwards to clear it and was lacerated in several places, none of them critical. "Enough of this..." He scowled, unwinding the cloth on his arm.

Brrr... Suika's hair prickled. Why do I have this ominous sinking feeling?

"I hate battles to drag on." He went on.

OH CRAP! Suika transformed into full fox demon form, bracing herself for whatever was coming. He yelled in a loud voice:

"DRAGON OF TH-"

"Pfft! HA HA HA HA HA HAH!" Suika's abrupt laughter interrupted him.

"...?" He discontinued in shock.

Her giant fox form dissolved into sparkles and melted into her normal form, sprinkling on her as she laughed.

"We were getting serious there." She giggled. "We almost killed each other." She grinned. "Ah....I feel better." She flopped on her back in the shade grass, stretching her arms at her sides and closing her eyes.

"Tch." Hiei got off the offensive, insulted at the thought of attacking her when she was like that and annoyed that the battle didn't presume.

"...Man...I was pretty angry." Suika mulled. "I told Kurama I came here to get to know him better and he said, '...That's not going to happen.'" She quoted.

"Why do you even bother him?" Hiei was annoyed. "Kurama doesn't even like you!" He snapped.

"I know." She said seriously.

"..." Hiei blinked once, not expecting that.

"And I understand why. I've been acting ridiculous...like some Mary-Sue in a fan fiction..." She said, standing. "And now, I'm going back to the demon plane."

"!" Kurama, who had followed her to apologize and decided to wait out the battle, emerged from behind a tree. "...You don't have to." He said.

Suika stopped in surprise at his voice, but didn't turn around.

"I've treated you unjustly." He said, feeling regret. "I didn't want you to become attached to me..." He said, looking down. ...I've already been through that with Maya... He thought, his expression sad. "So, I tried to get you to dislike me. I didn't mean to drive you away."

Suika turned around and smiled with her eyes closed. "That's not the reason I'm leaving." She said radiantly. "I'm going to become as famous as you...I'll get stronger...Until stories and legends are told about me...and maybe," She winked. "I'll have some crazy fan chasing after me." She smiled.
