This is a piece is based on a pencil sketch I gave up on. When I started to get serious with my pastels, I tested them on old sketches...this is one of those sketches. The inspiration for the piece is a person that had a profound impact on me many, many years ago. Two weeks ago I found out that from that fire now long extinct, embers still remain.
