Man that category was hard to find ~ Raises eyebrow ~

This is my submission for Kelsey's contest, I had once planned to do two, a close up and a longer far away shot, but life got in the way and we ended up with this by itself.

As things go I reckon this is my least online edited piece. Normally I clean images up and change the contrast to make them better, but this one was just resized and added (which could mean there are a lot of issues hiding somewhere but I hope not lol!).

The challenge was to draw a character based on a description of him in the book, and this was what I ended up with. My mind doesn't visualise characters in books, if it does they are vague and I can't see them when I don't read, so this was based on my practises over the years and the features I could recall. As might be obvious the one I most got hooked on was the fact he was scarred and had holy verses on his body. They were great to draw and imagine. I can't remember the whole of the verse on his chest, but I do remember I left it thinking I should write a holy book because they are great to imagine! I am quite taken by the scars on his face too.

Alas he has come out quite feminine which wasn't part of my plan ~ Bows to Kelsey ~ I think it is the amine influence in that and the fact I don't draw manly men much so don't have anything in practise to go by ~ Glares at mind which won't allow me to draw the manliest man I know ~ Cracks up ~ Had to say that ~).

Damn I am distracted by music coming from somewhere near (I would say the building next door but I know this band is meant to be playing up by the train station in a pub, so am baffled, I may investigate after submission ~) but err I like his eyes, hair, earrings, top, shirt (love that) and scars. I don't like the fact he looks quite feminine ~ Grumbles ~

Oh and nearly forgot. This was done with various grades of pencils, and took well err no idea because I did it over about 2 - 3 weeks since I have been dealing with house moving and holiday planning so barely drew. As a total the best bet would be 3-4 hours perhaps less. Not sure lol
