Sorry I'm not on theO much anymore. Life has been overwhelming. It can be like that. This is a drawing I've been working on for so long and neglecting to finish. I can't even remember when I started.
So I've heard the expression "key to my heart" and thought I'd draw it literally. The reason the scarecrows are crying is that They want to be together but they can't quite reach and never will. In my mind the drawing is post-apocalyptic, so tho life has vanished from the Earth, it still spins and the sun still rises and sets, and through storms and winter and day and night, these two eternally stand as sentries honoring the graveyard, together forever, yet not together. She has the lock and he has the key, but they can't quite reach. The sky in this image is a vivid sunset, throwing shadows across the desterted field. It was a sunset inspired by a dream I had as a child.
Maybe it's not my best work, but it came from my head, not from an image on a screen, and I did it without looking at a reference picture. So, come to think of it, maybe it is my best work, because it is 100% mine.
Oh, one thing just occurred to me though. Since it's post-apocalyptic, no one would be tending the grass in the field, so it would be much more overgrown, especially since in my mind this is a late summer/early fall scene. Dammit. Oh well. I hope you like it anyway.
