Sorry for the suddenly serious topic;; >_< But some stuff happened in Japan.

Two weekends ago, a series of earthquakes hit Kumamoto prefecture in the Kyushu region of Japan. An estimated 48 people died with many more casualties, as well as damage to buildings in both the Kumamoto and Oita prefectures. There's more information here.

I live in the Japanese House on campus, and our Japanese house tutor is from Kumamoto, so I heard about the earthquakes from her when it was still happening. Luckily her family is fine, but the same can't be said about everyone living in Kumamoto and Oita. As a way to help raise morale, my house tutor decided to have people in the dorm draw pictures of Kumamoto's Yuru-Chara, Kumamon, along with encouraging messages for the people in Kumamoto and Oita. She's then going to post them on her Facebook account so her friends in Japan can see that people outside of Japan are supporting Japan in this difficult time as well. :)

For my drawing, I included Kumamon, as well as Oita's Yuru-Chara, Mejiron. The house tutor also encouraged me to draw one of my characters with Kumamon and Mejiron, so I chose Lafayette since he was born in Japan. (Though honestly, I haven't decided what part of Japan he's from.) The writing around the drawing says "Do your best, Kumamoto and Oita Prefectures!" and something like "Get well soon!". I asked the tutor about the writing and she said they didn't sound weird or un-encouraging or anything, so it should be fine haha;; Also, she told me to include the copyright information for Kumamon and Mejiron, so that's also on there. :0 YEP!
