Chapter 10: Abnormal Morning
When I woke up the next morning, the most surreal thing had occurred to me. Vincent actually fell asleep with me last night. Let me explain. Usually when I go to bed, Vincent will sit on the windowsill and stare out at the moon… I’m still trying to figure out what he’s actually thinking about. And when he finally decides to go to bed, it’s almost 4 o’clock in the morning. I get up at 5:30.
After thinking about all of that, I realized another amazing thing; Vincent was already up…
“If he’s up,” I thought to myself. “It must already be noon at the least.”
It took a few seconds for the actual reality of the entire situation to sink in…
“OH CRAP,” I yelled as I stumbled out of bed.
“What in the Hell is wrong with me,” I said to myself, almost breaking into tears for no reason. “Get up Kim; you’ve got to go to work!”
I grabbed onto the comforter of the bed, but it ended up just toppling over me. I whimpered in defeat.
“What in the hell are you doing?” Vincent laughed at me from the doorway. He had a tray of food in his grasp.
“No, what’re YOU doing?! Aren’t you supposed to be at work?” I gasped from a tiny opening in the blanket.
“No, I called my boss and told him I was taking the day off for personal reasons,” he set the tray down on the nightstand. “And I already called Mia and told her your situation. She’s fine by it. Plus she decided to close up until Elena gets out of the hospital.”
“Oh yeah! Elena!” I clasped a hand against my mouth.
“Don’t worry, she’s just fine… Reno called last night after you fell asleep…” Vincent carefully picked me up out of the blanket and held me as if I were a newborn baby.
“What in the hell are you doing?” I raised an eyebrow at him, which made him laugh. “I’m not a baby.”
“Oh yes you are,” Vincent cooed at me. “You’re my baby, yes you are.”
I stared at him. What in the Hell happened to Vincent in the period of one day?
“Uhm… Yes. As flattering as that may be to you, put me down.”
“No…” Vincent smiled at me. It was the first smile of his where I actually saw his teeth. I was almost frightened.
“W-why not?” I sounded like a child begging for something; in other words, pitiful.
“Because…” Vincent’s smile broadened, and then the most unbelievable thing happened. He started to tickle me!
The ‘attack’ went on for hours it seemed like, and the only reason it stopped was because someone was at the door. It was just the mailman though, telling us there was a package down at the Post Office for Vincent. That caught my attention… Who sent Vincent a package? I tried getting him to tell me but he wouldn’t. Whatever. None of my business I guess. Or at least not yet of course, since we’re not married. Unfortunately, I had zoned out so I didn’t notice Vincent coming up behind me.
“Oh Kimberly…” Vincent taunted me as he grabbed my arm. “Come here.”
“Hey, Vincent!” I squirmed trying to escape from his grasp. “No!”
“Yes yes,” Vincent smiled as he reached down and lifted me over his shoulder. “Kim’s been a bad girl…”
I kicked and yelled, but it didn’t faze him. Vincent only grinned and closed the bedroom door. I must be in Hell.
