This is my entry to the Emilie Autumn contest.
Being one of my favorite musicians, I couldn't bring myself to pass it up.

Unfortunately I wasn't familiar with the suggested anime in the challenge, so I chose one that I felt shared the same morbid violence as Miss EA. I based it off her song 306. Not one of the listed favorites for the contest, but a haunting and beautiful song nonetheless.

Besides both series and song sharing death as a theme, the line I added into the wallpaper seemed to link them especially:
"my frozen pulse quickens
As the black plot thickens"
Certainly as the characters cycle through (trying not to spoil any potential readers), the twisted plot indeed thickens.

As also mentioned in my Steamboy wallpaper, I don't do a whole lot of editing with scans. I prefer to vector or create something from scratch. I didn't want to simply crop the image, change the colors a little, and call it a day. One of my favorite details is the texture of the hair. Just for reference, here's a before and after:
