Mai Kobayashi was actually the enemy at first. She was leading the Aerogaters invasion of earth and was one of the last bosses in SRW OG 1. She later becomes an ally in SRW OG 2 and pilots the R Gun Powered which can transform into a giant gun for the combined robot SRX and become the HTB Cannon. Mai develops a crush on Ryusei but Ryusei pretty much is a super robot otaku and doesn't seem to show any romantic interest (though he does show that he does care for her) and seems to oddly show interest in the super robots that look like females like Lamia's Angelg and Lune's Valsione.

Mai is Aya Kobayashi's sister (though it seems not by blood) and seems to also have psychic powers like her.
