Verse 2:
Sometime later, Dia pulled Len aside and into her cabin.
“I want you to answer some questions for me.” An unusually stern look filled her face and she lost her accent. “Who exactly are you, why is the Dragon Cult after you, why is your sister almost unable to talk, who are your companions other than Kaito, and why is there a 500 million gold bounty – dead or alive, I should add – on not only your head but also on the head of your companions?” Dia sat down in her black plush chair and put her feet up on her desk. “I’ll need to know everything about your journey and you before I decide to trust you and not turn you in for some extra spending money.”
Taking a deep breath, Len thought about his options. He could either not answer her questions, keep his past to himself and possibly turned in, or he could answer her questions and trust her not to turn him in. Then again, He commented to himself. I’m a rogue; she’s a pirate, in a way we are in the same class.
“Alright.” He gave in and began his long epic of how he ended up here. From learning that his twin sister, Rin, was kidnapped at birth to be a Dragon Diva, to meeting his companions, to the long struggle of fighting the Dragon Priestess and rescuing his sister, he told her everything. He spoke long into the evening, with Dia only nodding her head to let him know he was paying attention.
When he finally ended, Dia took a long sigh and stood up. “Your sister will be in the cabin right across from me. We’ll work on the other lodging arrangements after dinner. Tonight is Nate’s famous Crab Soup, you don’t want to miss it.” Noticing Len’s surprised expression, she laughed. “What? Ya think that since we’re pirates we don’t eat well? On the contrary, we eat pretty well, ‘specially since we’re blessed with an amazing chef like Nate. He might not look it, but his food’s the best I’ve ever tasted. ‘N I’ve tasted my fair share’a food ‘round this world.” And with that, she left, whistling down the halls to the galley.
