Wake Up Call
Tyson awoke with an outraged splutter. His hair was dripping and freezing cold. He could feel bits of ice slipping down his spine and he jumped up with a yell,
'KAI!'
The teenager responsible for Tyson's discomfort was leaning nonchalantly against the wall, arms folded and eyes closed. A satisfied smirk spread across his face.
'I thought you'd never get up!' he said calmly, leaving a frustrated and irate Tyson in the empty room.
'GNAAARRRRR…' Growled Tyson to no one in particular. He turned to survey his frozen bed.
You are so going to regret this, Kai. I will get my revenge. I'm sick of being woken up with a bucket of ice. Its not like it's the only way of waking me…Is it? He complained to himself as he got dressed. His glower soon disappeared as he made himself a gigantic breakfast and plotted his revenge.
That evening a shadowy figure made it's not so quiet way into the dark room where Tyson's Gramps usually slept. Tonight he'd gone out and it was empty but for an untidy bed and a large chest of drawers with a mirror and some cardboard boxes on top.
Tyson moved across the room to the drawers, giving a little yelp as he spotted a movement in the mirror. He quickly realised that it was just his own reflection and he laughed nervously at himself.
He took a few glances in some of the box's with a torch before moving quickly onto the drawers.
You are probably wondering what Tyson was up to by now. The fact is he was looking for ammo against Kai. Although Tyson was clever enough to figure out that his Grandpa probably had a few drugs stashed in his clothes drawers (Being a hippie and all) he wasn't clever enough to realise that drugging Kai was not only a stupid idea, it was also an abominably stupid idea! Unfortunately there was no one to stop him and so disaster was not stopped in the making.
After trying the first two drawers and finding nothing, Tyson was now struggling with the third one, which refused to open. All of a sudden there was a large crash as the drawer came loose and fell to the floor, scattering its contents everywhere.
Tyson sat up gingerly and looked around to find himself surrounded by a kaleidoscope of socks. Sitting safely in his lap was a small wooden box with leafy carvings and a little metal latch. Tyson grinned, certain that this was what he was looking for. Lifting the latch he gently pushed open the lid to reveal a little see through plastic bag. In the bag was a single tablet with the letter "C" stamped on one side. Tyson's grin widened.
I'll get you now Kai! He thought.
Quickly he took out the bag and placed the box back in the drawer, placing the numerous socks on top of it.
That night, as he lay in bed, Tyson took out the bag once more and looked at it for a while.
Must be Cocaine or something with that "C" on it. He thought. (Tyson's limited knowledge of drugs wouldn't even have made a sentence.)
'Just you wait Kai.' He mumbled as he put the small tablet away and fell asleep almost instantly.
The next day started out just as usual. Once again they were all training hard in preparation for the upcoming Beyblading Championships and by the time Kai let them stop for lunch, everyone was starving and ready for a long break. It was Rei's turn to make lunch so he cooked up a large pot of stir-fried noodles and they all tucked in.
All but Kai.
As usual, Kai didn't stop training until most of the others had finished eating.
Also as usual, Kai went straight to the kitchen and, rather than eating, made himself a cup of coffee. It was at this point that Tyson hoped to put his plan into action. In the dining room, Tyson got up and went to get himself a third helping from the kitchen. Kai had just put his coffee down to let it settle and left the full cup on the counter while he went to wash his hands and face.
Tyson had been counting on this and as soon as Kai had closed the door behind him, Tyson pulled the plastic bag from his pocket and tipped the white tablet straight into the steaming liquid.
He stirred it quickly before picking up his own refilled bowl and returning calmly to the dining room. He quietly ate his noodles as he listened to Kai in the next room.
How long does it take this stuff to work? He wondered. He looked around at the others.
There was Kenny, bowl shoved to the side, he was now typing on Dizzy. Max was slowly eating his second helping while talking to Rei who had finished and was leaning back contentedly in his chair with arms folded behind his head. He gently rocked his chair backwards and forwards as he listened to Max.
The peace was suddenly broken as an agonised yell came from the kitchen. This was followed by a crash as Rei's chair tipped over completely and Rei fell to the floor with a startled yelp. He lay in a daze for a second before scrambling to his feet and running with the others into the kitchen.
A strange sight confronted them. Kai stood rigid in the centre of the kitchen. His eyes were wide with pain and shock. He slowly clenched his hands into fists and thrust them out in a defiant gesture another scream ripping from his body. Swirling around him in a dark frenzy was a strange glowing purple light. Like a wind it slammed the door shut and violently pushed the Blade Breakers against the wall. Cups and Plates went flying and smashed on the tiled floor. In seconds the kitchen resembled a bombsite and the only person who wasn't any part of the chaos was Kai.
All of a sudden an unearthly wail rang out and a blinding light radiated from Kai's chest. Squinting through his fingers, Rei could just make out what seemed to be the shape of a small boy, in the light, being pulled from Kai's body. Kai seemed as if he was struggling to stop this happening but he was helpless against the strange force.
Rei hadn't a clue what was going on but he was sure it wasn't good.
'HOLD ON KAI!' He yelled. The pressure that had forced him against the wall was almost gone and Rei hurled himself against it with all his strength in an effort to reach Kai. Unfortunately it didn't work and Rei was flung unceremoniously at the wall. There was a sickening crack as he hit and Rei fell to the floor with a cry of pain, clutching his side. Just then, Kai sank to his knees. The figure of light was almost separate from him and he clutched desperately to stop the inevitable. Tyson, Kenny and Max watched in horror, unable to reach either Kai or Rei.
Then, all of a sudden, it was over.
There was a silence and the light faded away to reveal two figures in the middle of the room.
One was Kai, swaying slightly on his knees as he stared in shock at the child in front of him. It was a five-year-old boy with two toned blue hair and blue shark fins painted on each cheek. It was Chibi Kai.
