Robin Goodfellow

She got in line and watched as everyone tried out for a multitude of parts. Lena was trying out for Tatiana of course. She would love to be the queen of the fair folk. “What are you standing there gawking for Ms. Aster? Get up there.” The teacher snapped making her jump.

She hopped up the stairs her ears rushing, doubt screaming inside of her head. She looked out to the empty auditorium imagining an entire crowd of people all there to see her. It both excited her and terrified her, then she focused on Ms. Alder and the terror took hold.

She cleared her throat when Ms. Alder began tapping her foot. “Thou speakest aright.” She began testing her voice. “I am that merry wanderer of the night. I jest to Oberon, and make him smile. When I, a fat bean-fed horse beguile. Neighing in like…um likeness of a filly foal. And sometimes lurk I in a gossip’s bowl.”

“Enough!” Ms. Alder snapped. “You at least should know your lines when you come here to audition Ms. Aster.”

Liv swallowed hard feeling her face heat. She blew it. One stupid word she messed up. She made her way quietly down the side of the stage and picked up the sign up sheet for stage crew. Then turning she picked up her pack finding herself leaving not only the auditorium but the school. She was numb. She’d never get a chance like this again. Not to be Puck, in a Shakespeare play. She turned the street to go home when Rob popped out of the bushes making her jump putting her hand over her chest.

“Don’t scare me like that!” She shouted then turned away.

“Can I walk you home?” He asked.

“What? Wait. Why would you want to do that?” She asked glancing over her shoulder at him.
