“What are you doing?” Izaya asked peering over the bartender’s shoulder.

“Playing Valkyria Chronicles. It’s a strategy video game,” Shizuo replied fully engrossed in his game play. “The PSP is acting a little weird though. It’s squeaking. And not in a good way either.”

Getting quiet, Izaya sat very still waiting to hear the squeaking that the bartender was complaining about. It wasn’t long until the squeaking began sounding, as if the disc reader was going out. Although the game was still resuming perfectly fine, the occasional squeaking was starting to annoy the bartender, distracting his concentration on his game. Smiling deviously, the information trader leaned up and began making squeaking noises into Shizuo’s ear to further irritate him. Getting distracted by the game squeaking plus the information trader squeaking, Shizuo’s temper began to rise. Unable to ignore it any longer he snapped, crushing the game system in his hand as he now glared at Izaya.

“Shut up!” Shizuo yelled. Looking down at his hand holding the broken system he stood up, throwing it to the side as he yelled at the information trader, “You fucker! You made me break it!”

“Now there’s no more squeaking!” Izaya exclaimed. Smiling his eyes taunted as he concluded, “You’re welcome Shizu-chan.”

“Why do you have those?” Shizuo asked, pointing at Izaya’s rings.

The information trader raised his hands, looking at the silver rings he had on his index fingers. His response was simple, “I don’t know. I just like wearing them.” He slipped one of the rings off his finger, showing it to the bartender, “It’s just a ring to wear.”

Shizuo took the ring, inspecting it carefully before handing it back to him, “But you have two.”

“I wanted my fingers to match,” Izaya smiled. “One day I’ll find someone who wants to match with me. Then my fingers won’t have to match each other anymore.”

“So they’re wedding bands?” Shizuo said.

“Eh,” Izaya shrugged, “I guess that’s one way to put it.”

“Do you think I’m a monster?” The bartender looked up from his hands and over towards the information trader.

Sitting behind his computer, Izaya did not return his glance. The informant’s response was calm, blank and without hesitation, “Of course.”

Shifting his eyes up towards the bartender; Izaya saw Shizuo look back down at his opened hands. The bartender began to carry a grim expression. Izaya stood up. He began walking towards Shizuo, breaking the tension with his words.

“Shizu-chan was dubbed the most violent man in all of Ikebukuro,” Izaya smiled in his approached. “He is a very scary monster.” Stopping just in front of Shizuo, the information trader bent down, looking up to attract his glance. “Shizu-chan knew this answer already.” Capturing his gaze, Izaya now stood up straight, placing his hands inside his coat pocket. “Every day you ask me the same question and every day I give you an unchanged response. The facts will never change that Shizu-chan is a monster.” He paused, his eyes seemed to glint in tone, “But that’s not the question Shizu-chan really wanted to ask was it?”

The information trader now returned to his desk, sliding into his swivel chair as he spun it back towards his computer. “Perhaps Shizu-chan should stop asking the questions he already knows the answer to and ask the questions he actually wants the answers to.”

He wrapped his arms around the bartender, hugging him tightly from behind. The movement startled Shizuo as he froze in his tracks. Turning his head back he saw his clone, Tsugaru gripping him tightly. Removing the cigarette from his mouth, the bartender turned in Tsugaru’s arms, and pried him off.

“Tsugaru,” Shizuo said with concern in his tone, “What are you doing here? Did you get into a fight with Psyche?”

“No.” Tsugaru replied. Keeping his eyes down, his soft blue kimono hung loosely around him reflecting a passive demeanor. “I was sleeping and I heard Shizuo-kun’s thoughts.” He slowly tilted his head, now looking at the bartender. “Shizuo-kun wanted a hug but he says he can’t hug anyone because he would hurt people with his strength. So I came to give Shizuo-kun a hug.”

Shizuo blinked. The lit cigarette fell from his fingers as he now stood there facing his clone with a look of disbelief.

“Shizuo-kun can hug Tsugaru. We are made from the same DNA so Tsugaru can withstand Shizuo-kun’s strength,” Tsugaru replied.

Before Tsugaru could say anymore he felt himself being grabbed, pulled against the bartender into a tight hug. Responding, Tsugaru wrapped his arms around Shizuo returning his much desired affection.

“Don’t discredit yourself, Shizuo-kun,” Tsugaru said quietly, holding him tightly. “There will always be Tsugaru for you to hug.”

Bouncing on his way, Izaya was suddenly caught off guard when a trash can slammed into him from behind. Knocked over, the information trader turned his head to see the infamous bartender towering over him with a smirk on his face.

Izaya smiled, “Oh Shizu-chan, I was wondering when you would show up today.”

“Shut up!” Shizuo snapped.

He reached down to grab Izaya but the information trader was not going to be taken so easily. Summersaulting backwards, he evaded the bartender’s grasp as he rolled away from him. Jumping to his feet, Izaya let out a playful laugh as he began dodging the insistent reach of the bartender.

“C’mere jerk!” Shizuo snapped, becoming more and more furious with each evasive maneuver by his victim.

“Jerk?” Izaya smiled. Taunting he pointed, shaking his finger towards Shizuo in a scolding manner, “Is that any way to get your flea’s attention?”

In Izaya’s pause, Shizuo reached out, finally grabbing the information trader by his coat. Caught, Izaya suddenly felt the bartender’s hands around his neck, choking him in a strangling motion.

“Asshole!” Shizuo yelled, tightening his grip around Izaya’s neck, “Die!”

“Bastard!” Izaya coughed out through his strangulation. Pulling his knife from his pocket, he jabbed it into Shizuo’s shoulder. “Let me go!”

“No!” Shizuo snapped. Feeling the pain in his shoulder his grip loosened slightly. “I’m going to kill you!”

As the bartender’s grip relaxed Izaya leaned up, crushing his lips against him in a deep kiss. The knife still embedded in his shoulder, Shizuo’s hands went from choking to now cupping Izaya’s face tenderly as he returned his passionate kiss.

Slowly removing the knife from Shizuo’s shoulder, the information trader broke the kiss, his lips brushing against the bartender as he spoke quietly, “We better get home if we plan on doing any more of that.” He smiled, his voice remaining soft and subtle, “I wouldn’t want the whole town seeing us having alone time.”

Feeling the knife removed, the information trader’s words echoed through the bartender’s mind. Releasing his hold on Izaya, Shizuo narrowed his eyes. His voice was breathy, intense as he growled, “Start running fucker.”
