Death

I couldn’t seem to move as I watched something appear and it took all of my control to not gasp out loud when it finally did. The people in the room had turned to look and for the longest moment, everyone stared at the monstrosity. Then screams broke out and people began to panic as it moved towards them.

I finally managed to squeeze my eyes shut and tear myself away. Heedless of whether or not the two heard my footsteps, I ran for the stairs. Surely I had seen things. A creature like that couldn’t exist could it?

With a body built like a snake from the waist down and greenish skin and hair that looked like scales of some kind… It had to be my eyes playing tricks on me. It had stayed upright as it moved. If I had only seen it from the waist up, it would have seemed like some odd make up job for a bizarre movie. It can’t be real.

And yet, I knew it was. Just as I knew it was going to kill everyone. Already I could hear the agonized screams from where the others were and I ran faster. I had to find my brother and get out of there. A tiny voice was telling me he was dead, but I ignored it. He wasn’t dead; I had just talked to him. He couldn’t be dead.

I made it to the doors and opened them just in time to see the creature slice someone in half from the head down. Blood and guts flew everywhere and I gagged on the smell. I covered my mouth with my hand and looked for my brother but I didn’t see him in the room.

It was then that I realized that the creature was sporting a sword and some giant horseshoe shaped blade that was attached to a handle. Both sides of the blade for the odd horseshoe were sharp and I cringed when the monster grabbed a little girl and looked briefly into her eyes before lobbing her head off.
