Hello and welcome to Keba's Anime and Manga Place (KAAMP for short)! Here at KAAMP, I write about anime and manga that I have seen/read as well as my views on them. I'll also post about my original stories from time to time.

Just beware that some of my posts contain spoilers. I'll put them in spoiler tags just in case.

KAAMP's history: KAAMP was created in July 2002 by yours truly. It was a sloppy-looking website on Yahoo's now defunct Geocities. I posted my anime fan art on that site. Also, for a time, I posted my thoughts on the few anime series that I had seen. Now that I look back on it, my thoughts were rather ill-informed (is that even a word?) because I had only seen bits and pieces of anime dubs. Now that I've seen more series, I think that my commentary on various anime will be a little better than before.

So, come on in and stay awhile! KAAMP is now in session.

Finally!

After two or so years of saving up and waiting for the perfect opportunity, I finally have a scanner/printer.

Turns out there's an OfficeMax by my parents' that's closing. I went in last Sunday to inquire about 11 x 17 scanners. They had some, but they were "only" 30% off. I asked when they were closing, which, I learned, was mid-May. So I took a gamble and waited a few days in the hopes that the price would drop.

Well, the price did drop today. Also, since the last one they had was the display, I got a further discount. I just didn't get a box. Would I get the thing home safe? That was another gamble.

I drove it home safely wedged between the back of the driver's seat and the back seat. Getting it out and hauling it up the stairs to my apartment was where the real trial would begin. Believe me, that thing is enormous. And pretty heavy. Juggling it while trying to unlock and open the front door was fun. And by "fun", I mean "not at all fun". I'm just glad that I had the foresight to clean off my desk before setting it down.

Praying that it would actually function (because they didn't accept returns and I had payed $140+ for it), I plugged it in and set it up. I had to jump through a few hoops to install the software for it, but in the end, it was a successful endeavor.

Now the only downside is that I'm out of excuses for not posting stuff. And that's not so bad.

The Quest for a Scanner

This isn't exactly anime/manga related, but since no one's helping me on DevaintART, I thought I might as well post this here.

I'm looking for a scanner that can scan 9" x 12" drawings. I've shopped around but it seems that anything with a bigger scanning bed than 8.5" x 11" is pricey and/or ginormous. I've also searched for help online, but it's hard to come by answers. So, I thought I'd ask the largest community of artists I know my fellow otakuites about scanning drawings. So are there any scanners out there that can scan 9" x 12" drawings while not killing either my desk or my credit card?

In my online research, I read some comment like the scanner/drawing paper issue is like how hot dogs come in packages of 10 and hot dog buns come in packages of eight. I thought that was accurate.
