Tales of Okuri Tale 4 of 7 Sake and Swords

Wrapped in her fur blankets, Inuko slowly opened her eyes as the sun was setting. Her body hadn’t moved since she fell asleep, and neither had her covers. Oh, joy. Kiba may have been a bit of a pervert, but he did have a sense of dignity and respect for others, so of course he wouldn’t dare try to do anything to her in her sleep. Besides, he claimed to love her, and seemed willing to wait on her.

She stretched her arms and threw the furs off herself. Kiba had left the room a few minutes ago, judging by his scent. He had, however, left the water running in the shower. For her? How considerate of him. She shed her clothes and entered the attached bathroom. The steam from the showerhead was thick as the walls surrounding the fortress and Inuko’s sense of smell became fundamentally useless. She let the water fall on her head and drown out all the other noises in the world.

Kiba, wearing nothing but a towel, dug vigorously through the linens closet. He victoriously pulled out a bottle of shampoo-finally! He could replenish his bathroom’s stock-and shut the closet. He went back to his own room (making sure to close the door behind him) and inhaled the scent of the shampoo, making it impossible for him to pick out others. Seeing Inuko had left the room, he threw off his towel and headed back into the steamy shower. And who had decided to jump in the shower while he was gone? Inuko, of course.

He stood there for a moment, watching her twirl under the falling water. Her eyes closed, she blindly began to fumble for the shampoo bottle. Fearing she might discover him, he hastily shoved it into her hand. He watched, not daring to breath, as she massaged her hair with the gelatinous substance. He did not wish to risk being caught, so as soon as she finished rinsing, Kiba stuck out a towel which she blindly grabbed. Only when Inuko left the bathroom did he finally breathe his heavy, noisy sigh of relief.
