Hello there. Welcome to my world of Random Thoughts. In this world I’ll be posting stuff about anime and manga. Not to mention various other topics. I may post the occasional music video every now and than. And from time to time, I’ll just talk about my life in general. But first, here are a few things about me.

I was born an only child, for one thing. Originally I was planning to go into art professionally, but recently I’ve been more inclined towards writing. I still do the occasional wallpaper every now and then though, and I also still draw a little. But much of my energy these days goes into writing fan fiction. I’ve also recently become interested in archive and library work, which is something I’ve discovered I’m good at. Finally, like most people on the Internet, I like cats.

In addition to being a fairly good wallpaper artist, I'm also a fan fiction writer who's written quite a few stories on FanFiction.Net. To check those stories out, CLICK HERE

That’s pretty much all you need to know about me. I'm not sure how often I'll post something here, but I'll try to as often as I can. In the meantime, I hope you all enjoy visiting.

Moving Forward

That's what I seem to be doing right now anyway. This evening I had a little more driving practice. Overall, it went okay, but I did end up making a few mistakes, like not stopping soon enough and things like that. Plus it was my first time driving in the dark, so I was a little nervous. It wasn't completely dark, but dark enough. Not to mention the car he had me using this time was not at all comfortable to drive. My right ankle still hurts. Still, I think it went well. I've made mistakes and I think I've learned from them. At least I hope I have.

Anyway, things have been moving forward with my art. I did four new wallpapers, so that slump I went into wasn't quite as long as I thought it would be. I also did a new piece of fanart that I'm kinda proud of, and I'll probably do a sequel to it soon. Plus I've already got a new wallpaper challenge going here on TheO. I actually came up with the idea for the challenge weeks ago. I basically copied and pasted the description from a Word document I typed up, but this new challenge already seems to be somewhat of a hit. There are already two people entered in it. So like I said, things seem to be moving forward.

A Quick November Rant

Well, it's November again. Autumn is coming close to an end, and soon winter will be upon us. I planned to do this little rant later in the month around Thanksgiving, but tonight something I saw made me just want to get this off my chest. I was doing a little channel surfing before hoping into the shower, and it came to my attention that the Hallmark channel was showing a Christmas movie. And it wasn't just some old Christmas movie that was made years ago, this was some new original movie that they just made. Plus it won't be the last Christmas movie that they'll be showing this month. Christmas is still about a month away and already they're showing Christmas movies. Sadly, I'm not surprised by this. It's been going on for years. Somewhere along the line, it seems that Thanksgiving has become a sort of warmup act, or rehearsal for Christmas and perhaps other December holidays. Think about it, you kinda do the same thing on both major holidays. You get together with your relatives, eat a huge dinner with them, and spend the rest of the evening doing other stuff. The only difference is there are no gifts. That pretty much covers this rant. Just thought I'd get it off my chest. Thanks for reading.

Finding the Lost Hero

Theme song to Greatest American Hero (just because it seems somewhat appropriate)

Well so far I'm having a pretty good day. Today I went to the store where I buy Yu-Gi-Oh! cards to apply for a part time job there. While I was there, I also bought a couple of Generation Force Special Edition sets. One of the promo cards that comes with one of these sets is Elemental HERO Absolute Zero.

Click here to see the card I'm talking about.

Absolute Zero was also a promo card that came with the fourth volume of the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX manga, and one that I was really looking forward to getting. Sadly though, when the fourth volume of GX first came out, I didn't get it. When I went to the bookstore to find it when it first came out, it wasn't there. I either got there too early or too late. I eventually got the fourth volume of GX, but by that time, the card was no longer included. *sigh*

So this special edition set of Generation Force was a good second chance to get Absolute Zero. But of course it's not that easy. For you see there's another promo card in the Generation Force special edition set, a little card called Spore. -__-

Click here to take a look at the other promo.

Yesterday when I went over to get the job application (and I hope I get the job by the way) I bought two other special edition sets. They both contained Spore. -_____-

So when I went back today to hand in my application, I was also determined to find Absolute Zero. So I bought the last two special edition sets they had. I got home and opened the first one, which contained Spore. *ARRGH!*

So I opened the second set I bought, my last chance. And......... it contained Absolute Zero! *yayyyyy*

Plus I found the following cards in the packs of both sets.

Adreus, Keeper of Armageddon

Number 34: Terror-Byte

A pretty nice bonus, but the best part is that I finally have Absolute Zero. Now if only I had the cards to build an Elemental Hero deck, but I may get them once I get my hands on the Legendary Collection 2 set. Anyway, that's how my day has gone so far.

Dead Again

What's dead you ask? My inspiration for making wallpapers. I lost it a few weeks ago, then I got it back and made sixteen wallpapers. Now once again I have nothing. Don't worry, I'll get it back again sooner or later. The only thing I can do is browse through some of the images that I've had saved on my computer for awhile. Or I'll look for some new ones. Eventually something will come to me. Probably not in the next couple of days though. Tomorrow I'll be busy, and I have plans on Saturday. Plus I have this one fanfic that I feel I should get back to soon. I actually have three unfinished fanfics at the moment, but two are kinda on hiatus. Whether that hiatus is permanent or not, I don't know. Anyway, don't be surprised if you don't see any new wallpapers from me for the next week or so. I'll get back to it though. Just gotta get some new ideas. I'll keep an eye on the challenges and see if anything strikes me.

A Halloween Rant

Ladies and gentleman, Rin & Len Kagamine!

Well, it's once again Halloween, and this year I'm just not that into it. I haven't made a single jack-o-lantern this year. Of course, that's mostly because I forgot about it this year. Plus it's a lot of work. I think that if I remember to do it next year, I'll only do one. In the past I've done three. Anyway, the reason why I'm just not into Halloween this year is that the horror movies that have been shown this month have been kind of a disappointment for me. Usually what I do on Halloween anymore is just watch at least one horror movie of some kind, and October is usually when you'd expect to find the best horror/sci-fi movies on TV. This year has been kind of a letdown. Last year was too a little, but not as bad as this year. The Syfy Channel hasn't shown anything good, but then the Syfy Channel has gone way down hill over the years. That's a different topic altogether though.

Then of course there's AMC. They've shown two or three okay horror movies, but most of what they've shown are zombie movies. Why the heck are zombie movies so big? What ever happened to good old-fashioned vampire or werewolf movies? Do people no longer think they're scary because of that Twilight *bleep*? It has seemed like vampires and werewolves have been romanticized a bit over the last decade or so. Or at least are now portrayed in a more positive light, and that's okay. A couple of good vampire heroes that spring to mind are Miyu from Vampire Princess Miyu and Moka from Rosario + Vampire. Not that Rosario + Vampire is my favorite anime/manga series. I read the manga for awhile, but got tired of it. Anyway, a vampire still makes an awesome villain, and werewolves still make formidable movie monsters. A few examples of good werewolf movies I can think of off the top of my head are the original Howling, Stephen King's Silver Bullet, and Project Metal Beast. Actually Project Metal Beast is kinda cheesy, but it's an interesting concept. A military experiment gives a werewolf metal skin.

Anyway, it all seems to be about zombie movies these days. What is the big deal about zombies? Every zombie movie is the same, a virus kills off the majority of the human race, reanimates the corpses as flesh-eating monsters, and the few humans who are left try to fight off the zombie hoard. It's the same story every film, and it's depressing. I don't like depressing movies. Granted, few horror films have happy endings, but zombie movies go over the top with it. As I've said, it's the same story every film, yet they're so popular. There are even TV shows about zombies now. There's that show called The Walking Dead on AMC, and then there's the anime series High School of the Dead. How do you end shows like that? I find it hard to believe that they could have a happy ending.

Okay, so maybe vampire and werewolves are a little out of style these days when it comes to horror, but there are other options than zombie movies. Like Alien movies for example. Thanks to the old War of the Worlds radio broadcast and The Simpsons Halloween specials (Tree House of Horror), aliens have been a part of Halloween for years, and there are a few really good horror movies featuring aliens. The best examples would of course be the movies Alien and Aliens. There are other alternatives too, like movies about ghosts. The best examples I can think of are the first two Poltergeist movies. Another alternative would be a movie about demons. One year I saw the last half of the movie Hellraiser. That film looked interesting to me, and the gore was fake enough not to bother me. I don't like horror films with too much blood and gore. Anyway, the puzzle box that brought forth the demons, or whatever they were, was a nice touch.

So that concludes my little rant I guess. This year's batch of horror movies have been a disappointment, but I still have some stuff to watch. Last year I recorded some of the Friday the 13th movies and never got around to watching them. I'll never understand why it never occurs to the characters in those types of movies to just cut off the head of the unkillable psycho killer, other than the simple fact that it would end the series. Obviously, none of the people in those movies have seen Highlander. Anyway, I also actually have both Alien and Aliens on DVD, so I could just put those in I guess. I just needed to get this rant off my chest. Thanks for reading.
