The Host by Stephanie Meyer has nothing to do with anime or manga but I thought I'd have a go at writing a review about it anyway. Why? Part of it is to prove to myself that I can be an objective editor and I'm not a completely flaming biased Stephanie Meyer hater. Part of it is because it's good practice for editing. Part of is that Meyer gets beaten with the literary and editorial stick a lot (not without good reason) but The Host was almost redeemable. That deserves mention. So, onward. But first, the obligatory warning.
WARNING: The following content may or may not contain spoilers for the novel The Host by Stephanie Meyer. Read at your own discretion.
Stephanie Meyer is not my cup of tea. I read the Twilight series a few years ago, after it had well been established as being horrible, to gain my own opinion about it. It's one thing to know what everyone else says, quite another to form your own opinion. I'd heard that The Host was better but was never really inclined to read it. Then a friend lent it to me and kept pestering me about reading it, so I did. Follows are my thoughts on the book, the good and the bad.
