Chapter 4: I hope you have a better day
-Angel-
I logged out of skype and sighed as I looked behind me at my packed up room. I didn’t want to leave, but I was too young to stay home alone as mom and dad went around the world to do a huge photo shoot and shoot a movie. I loved living in a small town, but I hated the fact that my parents had to go away. My aunt just thought it would be easier for me to come and live with them rather then my parents trying to find a nanny to take care of me while they were away. What was nice was my mom had always been a country girl and wanted to try to raise a family in a small town and let her kids have a semi normal life.
‘I might as well go to bed. I have to get up early tomorrow anyways.’ I thought to myself spinning around and wandering over to my bed. “I’m sure that Clary will be just fine at her new school. I know she can take care of herself.” I hugged my extra pillow. “I just wish I could be there with her… just you wait Clary I’ll come back and be strong enough to protect you.” I muttered to myself and fell asleep soon after.

“Alright everything’s packed.” I sighed a little as I closed the tailgate to my uncle’s truck.
“Don’t be sad son. I promise that we will be back as soon as we can.” My mom said.
“If your time get’s extended and when you two get back can you promise me that I can pick which ever school I want to go to when you get back?” I asked. It was a long shot but I pray that they say yes.
“We’ll think about it, how does that sound?” My dad told me and I nodded with a sad smile.
“Alright sounds good. Don’t think that I won’t keep reminding you about it though.” I laughed a little trying to lighten my own mood.
“We’ll miss you Angel.” Mom said as I hugged them both.
“I’ll miss you too.” I said my voice cracking a bit not wanting to cry in front of them. I was a big boy I can’t cry in front of them.
We said I love you to each other then I got into my uncles truck as my mom and dad said goodbye to my uncle. It felt like I was sitting there for a half an hour as they talked. Grown ups anyways. They always take forever to get ready. The ride was about three hours. And the further we went the more woods came around then acres and acres of farmland. Didn’t mind it I liked coming out to visit and the quietness of the place. My aunt and uncle had two kids both of them were younger then me. But not by much. Donna was 13 and Jess was 11. So no other boys in the family other then me. Donna and Jess always liked trying to get me to play dress up and house with them when my parents and I came over.
They had a small farm with some sheep, couple of horses, and some alpaca. But mom and dad helped my aunt and uncle expand our great grandparents land to 150 acres from just 50. Well there is more woods then field, but that’s what helps my aunt and uncle out. They sell a lot of wood to help out with the expenses of the place.
And now with me here to help out getting a certain amount of quarts of wood for reliable customers is something that I can help out with…I hope.
When we got there Donna and Jess helped me unpack and get everything into my new room. Which was always the spare bedroom that I stayed in at least for a week each summer. I always tried to help out while I was here for the week so I kind of understood what I was about to get myself into. I know that my cousins were no slouches and were always out with their parents helping on the farm and I didn’t want to slow anyone down.
I love my family I really do and I was happy to get to be pulled out of the spotlight that I was forced in because of my parents. And I think that it will help out. Yes I think that I would missed being dragged off to go do runway shows for clothes with my mother, but I wanted to learn how to work hard and feel good after accomplishing something.
“Angel. Come on we’ll show you around to let you know what’s changed and what you’ll be helping daddy out with.” Donna said running into my new room.
“Alright.” I smiled and followed her out of the room. Jess excitedly skipped ahead of us.
They showed me around the farm and took me on some of the trails in the woods. The farm was peaceful and I was happy about that. I’m sure from time to time there might be people that show up trying to find me for shows, but Donna and Jess already had that covered apparently. For some reason I didn’t really want to know what they had planned for me.
After we got back dinner was just about done and we had to get washed up. Everyone else was talkative at the table. I was the one that stayed quiet. I didn’t want to interrupt unless I was asked a question. I’m sure that eventually I’ll feel more comfortable but for now I figured I would just stay quiet.
I took a shower after dinner and then went into my room and dug out my cell phone. I didn’t miss any text from Clary, but I figured I would give her a call to let her know that everything was alright.
“Hello?” I heard her pick up after two rings.
“Hey Clary.” I smiled on my end and sat down on my bed.
“How was your day?” She asked.
“It was a long day. I’m all unpacked though and I start helping out on the farm tomorrow. I’m excited but kind of nervous.” I replied.
“Oh you shouldn’t be nervous. It’s your family after all.” Clary commented.
“I know…how was your day?” I asked.
“It could have been better.” She answered after a minuet of silence.
“Did something happen?” I asked a bit confused.
“Nothing very serious. I can handle it.” She said.
“You sure?” I questioned.
“Of course. You don’t have to worry about me I can handle myself.” She laughed.
“Alright. I just wanted to call and say hi and see how you were doing. I have to head to bed so that I can get up and help out.” I said sadly cutting out conversation short.
“Alrighty, good night Angel. Hopefully we can talk tomorrow.” She said.
“I’ll try to give you a call at least three or four times a week.” I smiled sadly.
“Sounds good. Good night.” She said.
“Good night Clary.” I nodded then hung up the phone, turned off my light and crawled into bed.

*BEEP* *BEEP* *BEEP* *SLAM* I groaned as my hand slid off my alarm clock.
“I really don’t want to be up right now.” I mumbled to myself sitting up in bed and rubbing the sleep out of my eyes before getting up and getting changed.
I was up before Donna and Jess so I was able to get to the bathroom first. I brushed my teeth and forgot to bring my rubber bands in for my braces. I sighed and dragged myself back to my room to get my rubber bands. After getting three rubber bands in Donna came running into the bathroom.
“Morning Donna.” I said about to put my last rubber band in.
“Get out get out get out get out.” She said quickly pushing me out the door making me snap my rubber band in the process.
“Ow…” I muttered holding my mouth in pain.
“Are you okay Angel?” I turned to see Jess walking up to me like a zombie.
“Good morning Jess and I’m alright. I just snapped a rubber band as I was pushed out of the bathroom was all.” I answered.
“How are you so awake right now?” She squinted at me through a messy head of red hair that always reminded me of Merida from the Disney movie brave.
“I’ve been up for about a half an hour for now. Figured it would be easier for me to get to the bathroom first, but apparently not.” I laughed a little.
Donna came out of the bathroom and before I could take a step Jess raced past me and closed the door behind her. I sighed and stood there looking at the ceiling waiting to be allowed to put my last rubber band in my mouth.
“This was going to be a long day.” I muttered to myself. “Clary I hope you’ll have a better day that I am when you wake up.”
