GazeThoughts about Ruki
Members’ Comment about Ruki
Uruha: Ruki’s a guy who is invaded with the illness of not being able to stop talking once he gets started. A little like a pet. And he’s been surprisingly methodical lately.
Aoi: A shrewd person? He takes everything; song writing, guitars, bass, the mic as his own. But it’s a wonder you can’t hate him.
Reita: He’s a nice guy who’s always my straight man when I’m the funny one. Makes the world go numb with his nice voice!
Kai: Someone who readily chimes in with others! Talks a lot! Expressions appear on his face instantly. Doesn’t tell lies! Values taking care of what is inside oneself.

Member’s Comment about Aoi
Ruki: I thought he was scary the first time I saw him, but he was a surprisingly shy BOY.
Uruha: Is generally a data collector. Is someone who really battles through tough times, too… Surprisingly likes sake.
Reita: His movement is fast, whatever he does. Always drinks coffee. Has quite a lot of physical strength.
Kai: Has a lot of sympathy. Very polite. Often treats other people [to dinner, etc.]

About CD jackets...
I like beautiful photographs with a little poison in them. Because I have always liked album jackets, when I’m listening to a CD, I like to think about visually comparing the music with the jacket, too. I like to think about things like “why was this kind of jacket chosen?”. But there are also many times when you are deceived by the looks of a jacket (laugh). “Why on earth does this CD have that kind of jacket?”, things like that. Because things like these happen, too, shouldn’t I say that a jacket is better when it is different from the songs on the CD? When a jacket and the music are mixed, I want to make it into something which you can listen to even better. This is why there certainly won’t be any portraits of the band in the GazettE’s jackets. These are my pure emotions! (laugh). I always wonder what I would think if I was someone who bought the CD. We are able to create interesting things, but we also have to choose a cameraman, and because several people are involved in the making, many problems arise, too. And for the shooting we also have to create various original things. This is a time where CDs don’t sell, right (laugh). But it’s a very important point.”

Funny GazeInterview
Uruha: I have a really funny clip on my mobile/cellphone, where Ruki – when we step into the restaurant, a waiter or waitress comes to seat us, right? And at the point, he’s already saying “3 Tarako spaghetti’s, extra portions”! (laughs)
Ruki: (laughs)
Uruha: It’s way too quick of him to order! I took a video of him doing that on my phone from behind.
Presenter: Did you always have Tarako spaghetti when you went, then?
Ruki: Well, cause we went there constantly, I was told that I might as well order before we even sat down -
Uruha: – yeah, we did!
Ruki: – so as soon as we opened the door, not waiting to see if the waiter or waitress would greet us, I was like, “3 Tarako spaghettis”!
Uruha: And one cheese fondue.
Presenter: How did the waiter or waitress react?
Ruki: They were like, “Urr -
Uruha: – thank you for your order! But how about you take seat first?”

Interview in Finland
Aoi, you and Uruha both play guitar solos in your songs. Is there any competition between you two because of this?
Aoi: (laughs) Of course there is no competition between us, because after all, our working is based on continuous teamwork. Uruha plays a solo if he has a deeper emotion or affection towards the song and vice versa. Many our songs have guitar solos from both of us, though, so we are very equal as guitarists.
NIL and STACKED RUBBISH were such different albums. Will your style change in the future or are you now what you ultimately want to be as a band?
Reita: You can never be sure about the future, because everything is possible, so that's hard to answer. We don't want to be labeled into one category. We'd rather make the kind of music that feels good at that moment. And our present musical style represents us the best now.
How are your music videos and songs related to each other?
Reita: Our songs are almost never directly related to the videos.
Aoi: The material in the video is rarely related to the lyrics. We want to give our fans some space for imagination. Music videos that are related to the song are, in my opinion, rather useless. They, almost without exception, ruin everybody's personal images that the music gives.
