Welcome to my world.
I'm SomeGuy, 29 years old, residing in Vancouver, BC, Canada. I've studied English Literature, Chinese Martial Arts, and am currently pursuing careers in writing - possibly even in the anime industry itself.
And I work for this site.
And you should be watching Beck: Mongolian Chop Squad.
Or watching Ranma 1/2.
Or learning about the Shinsengumi.
Or planning to visit Vancouver, The Best Place On Earth (actual marketing motto).
Here at the "Smallville" page, I have my personal blog where I'll post about anything and everything. If ya need me or otherwise need to know anything from/about me, here's where I'll be.
If you're really looking for my more professional, site-type stuff, you wanna head over my "Metropolis" world.

First off . . . if you haven't read Flint's Pokemon essay thing yet, you need to do that. It's beyond brilliant and I love the idea of holding him out to the public when he usually tries to hide in the shadows so often.
So what else is interesting and worth mentioning today . . . . .
I need to think of a word for the Writers Bloc . . . I also think I'll wait 'til it's Becky's day before I Watercooler-plug it. She'd be more interesting than random vocabulary, I bet.
A'ight, I got nothing else. So instead I'll share a ridiculous song that has somehow been an in-joke at my kung fu club for many, many years now:

Yeah. Take that.
Went to a local Japanese place for dinner yesterday with my mom. Everyone else in the house already had other arrangements and neither of us had ever tried this restaurant before, so we gave it a shot.
Pretty good place, all in all. Cooked food was a little ehh, but the sushi was excellent. Since it was just the two of us, we kinda just picked and chose ('cause I had to get my toro sashimi - sure, I'm eating it now because Onizuka made a stink about it in the anime, but that stuff is seriously awesome!). So I figured we might as well grab a rice bowl to round everything off.
We ended up getting the cheapest donburi on the menu. Not so much because it was inexpensive, but because I had just learned about "oyakodon" - chicken and fried egg on top of rice - the other day. See, oyako literally means "parent and child", which is sort of a joke about how the dish has both chicken and egg in it. Naturally I found it hilarious to learn that, so we had to have it - even if the chicken was kinda tough and there wasn't nearly enough topping for the amount of rice there actually was. That wasn't the point of it. In any case, my mom kinda wants to make that (or some modified version of it) at home now. So neat.
But like I said, they had toro, so I was set. The mother and I also had dinner conversation more about out of town friends - both current and near-future - rather than about what kind of job I want to look for. That was the best setting of it all.
Other than that . . . no, that's about it. Did my Writers Bloc work, got Nehsz' set up for her Writers Bloc work (which she did quickly and under time constraints and duress, so I totally appreciate it) . . . thought a little about how I should probably plug the Writers Bloc over at the Watercooler some time now that we're really up and running now and I'm feeling shameless . . .
I'll worry about that later. Still got some June to take care of first . . .
One of the guys who was in the opening act band for Yoshida Brothers was playing in a different band at the Dragon Boat Festival thing. That was nifty.
Also, Stupid Ed's comin' to town either Thursday or Friday, so that'll be fun. I think he wants me to lend him games since he bought the MGS4 bundle. Still, always fun to have him around.
So while on the subject of Metal Gear . . . apparently it HAS made an impact on PS3 sales so far, at least in Japan. The system usually sells about 10 or 12 thousand units a week. The week MGS4 came out, Japan sold about 77,000 units. That's sick. That's awesome but sick.
On the complete opposite spectrum of awesome video gaming . . . in this case, the side that is quite the opposite of awesome . . .
. . . the Guitar Hero property has shown time and again that their souls have been devoured by beasts of shadow and shall never again see the goodness of a loving world ever again.
That's enough for now. Peace!
Saw Kung Fu Panda yesterday. It's actually a Dreamworks animated movie with a story not dependant on double-entendre and pop culture references. I think I like that. Also saw it in a theater filled with kids; I think that was part of what made it so enjoyable for me, actually. I was probably laughing just as much as they were . . . also, mad props for having animals using the Shaolin animal styles in the movie done by the actual animals - that was a very good call. In fact, it was so good that I'm so sad that Red is gonna be at camp for the rest of the summer instead of seeing Angelina Jolie's "Tigress" in the movie. Seriously all I could think of the whole time.
Umm . . . other than that . . . things seem to be goin' alright all around more or less. This is never a bad thing.
Oh, one thing: we still need a Tuesday guest poster!
Other than that, Adam and I are hitting the dragonboat festival today. That should be pretty good - here's hoping I don't sleep in.
This is long. Don't read it if you don't feel like reading right now. I'm telling you that right now.
I used to cry a lot when I was a kid.
I had really sensitive feelings back then, and "friends" back then knew it and wer...
