Damn, it was raining hard yesterday. Unusually cold June this year in Vancouver . . . sucks. Ah well, it'll be over within the week, hopefully.
So I finally went to Purolator yesterday so I could ship away my broken Rock Band pedal and get that $30 charge taken off my credit card. Wanna know what's awesome? The people at the office saw the box, saw the shipping sticker on the side, knew exactly what it was and why I was there.
Go EA.
So yeah, here's how the process works. A piece of your gaming hardware breaks down; you call EA about it; they ship you a new replacement piece and put a charge for it on your credit card as collateral; when you receive your replacement piece, you then ship back your old broken piece in the same box; when EA receives the box, they take the charge off your credit card. Hooray for good customer service policies!
You do have to pay for return shipping, however . . .
I really need to check back with EA about that, 'cause that's really crappy. Consider the following:
- I currently have a $30 charge on my credit card for that plastic drum pedal.
- When they receive my broken drum pedal to confirm I wasn't screwing them over, they shall remove that $30 charge.
- Shipping that thing via Purolator from Vancouver, BC to EA's office in California costed $20.50 plus $4 gas tax; thus, it costed me $24.50 to remove a $30 credit card charge.
Now I'm not too upset because ultimately this is still less than just getting a new replacement part . . . but yeahhhhh. I dunno, maybe EA'll refund me that bit? I'd better check with them . . . . . 'cause yeah. Ouch.
Ahem.
So hey, who hasn't done Becky's Writing Prompt yet?
Do it! Do ittt!!!
My my my . . . all kinds of crazy stuff took place this weekend, eh?
So yeah, the stuff Adam mentioned is slowly becoming less immediately important now, which is nice enough. All I'll say on that subject is that take the apology however you wish, I'm just satisfied that said-member did apologise and did admit to doing wrong. Now that it's out in the open with everyone, that's good enough for me; anything to come of it after here is up to said-member and those with whom said-member is friends with.
That said . . . I'm starting to care less about sentences ending with prepositions. It's funny 'cause I was totally going to write about those some time, but apparently they're seriously not THAT big of a deal anymore. Go fig' . . .
I'll write my Writers Bloc workshop in the morning.
So other than that stuff . . . I watched the MGM version of "Ivanhoe" from the '50s yesterday. It's just fun to watch since I first saw it in class in grade 8 Social Studies. And y'know, it's fun and enjoyable in that classic, cheesy-when-you-look-back-from-sixty-years-in-the-future kind of way.
And then I got a fanfic dedicated to me. I won't lie, that was pretty cool to have happen. Fine writer, that myTragicENDING . . . very new to the community, though, so I do hope she starts exploring a little more, meeting more people here and there on her own terms rather than just waiting for people to come her way.
Other than that . . .
Hey, question . . . is the only way to recharge a WiiMote to either buy a charging deck or replace the batteries? Yeah, it must be . . . that's a shame . . .
I totally forgot about how it was June 6th a couple days ago! Completely ignored the D-Day anniversary . . . I feel like that's never happened before and I feel kinda bad about it. It was just a thought I had in my head this morning as I woke up in bed, that "a year ago I was in Europe" and all the thoughts that came after that.
Hehe, like the two girls from Illinois who just came off the train in Bayeaux and asked us, "excuse me, do you guys know how to get to Normandy?"
"Well... you're in Normandy," one of the other guys told them. Ahh, priceless . . . good times, good times . . . that was such an amazing trip and I kinda wish I could do it again right now. Kinda, anyway . . .
. . . other than that . . . . . Batou totally stiffed me in the podcast, ignored my Art Gallery story . . . that's the second time they've done this to me, y'know? It's gonna start hurting my feelings if I suddenly lose my balls or somethin'. On the plus side, though, they legitimized Calaya's position in the top three so it proves I'm not playing favourites to anyone.
Some stuff was mentioned at Adam's blog, and that was kinda exciting.
Finally . . .
We haven't lined up a Tuesday guest poster for the Writers Bloc yet! Any volunteers? Repeat volunteers? Just have a rant you wanna make about writing in general? These don't all have to be lessons and stuff, y'know - editorials are good too! So yeah, someone save us!!!
I think that's about it. Peace.
One of the girls asked me to upload her photos from last weekend . . .
That poor 1955 Pontiac . . .
Rest of the album can be found on my photobucket here.
Other than that . . . Light is totally cheating on Misa now, and that's hilarious.
Gaming thing #1:
My new Rock Band drum pedal arrived today! So let's see, I made the initial call during the afternoon of May 24th . . . which means it took about 11-12 days to process and arrive. It's within two weeks, so hey, I'm fine with that. So job well done, EA. Thus far, your warranty system kicks ass.
Although you thought my name was "Jay" when we spoke on the phone. Oh silly, silly EA . . . and yes, I shall mail you back my broken pedal now so you can give me back my $30 credit card charge.
Gaming Thing #2:
So everyone's more or less familiar with Jack Thompson? He's that Florida lawyer who's taken on a personal crusade against video games and is pretty much the most ridiculous, most outrageous, most unprofessional guy in the history of ever.
The most recent news was that he had a court date for a disbarment hearing . . . and well, that hearing happened earlier this week on Wednesday . . .
. . . and the guy walked out on it. He walked out on his own hearing.

Soooooo yeah. He's pretty much done. And, I don't think we're gonna miss him.
Something Else Point:
Wrote up my thing about the Vancouver Art Gallery. Adam chimed in with his 2 cents. That's about it.
