Holy Crap, It's Scott McNeil!

Over last weekend we had all taken part in Bloodshots Canada, a 48 hour film race for the horror genre. After a stressful, grueling weekend, we pumped out a movie. I wasn't especially proud of it on account of all the dramas and frankly kinda didn't want anything to do with it by the end of it all. Still, even if I wasn't proud of the final product, I was still proud of the work a lot of us put into it.

Here you go, have a link to the "nice" version of the "here's our movie" post.

Alexa's script and premise was gold. Every time I called the scriptwriting meeting from work, I was always excited by where the story was going. It was a great idea, and I knew we could do a lot with it. And sure, she wasn't there for a lot of the weekend, but sometimes when times are getting painful, it's just nice to have someone around to talk to about stuff. Besides, she needed cosplay expertise that night.

Manda, our star, had a lot of responsibility on this bad boy. She had to be on screen the most, had to wear a clown outfit outdoors in potential public, and she STILL came back for more during the editing process! Not to mention she got called into work for a few hours on the Saturday but still getting back so we could start things up. She was a trooper.

I also have to give a shout-out to AM730's own Sean Cruz. Not only did he do his usual 12:00am - 8:00am traffic radio shifts every night of the weekend (and beyond) and still find the time to come out and help us out with stuff. He also got us into the Corus Radio offices in the TD Tower in downtown Vancouver so we could record some dialogue in professional radio booths. For his efforts, he also read the "news reporter" lines for us; that's right, we had a professional radio personality do voice work for our film!

So it was killing me (and probably frustrating others) that I wanted to support their work, even if I didn't want to support what we worked towards.

Well, I bit. All the ill will I had about some of the other stuff, I wasn't going to prove anything by refusing to head out to this screening except that we'll still have this problem to worry about in the future.

Also, I really wanted to see the other films the other 24 teams made. I watched a couple online prior and was duly floored by how amazing they were. I had to see what the others came up with, even if it meant we weren't even remotely close to a level playing field with them.

Also, we had to know we weren't the worst. I know, deja vu, right?

So, got in the car, and drove out to pick up Alexa and then head to the Anza Club in Vancouver . . .

. . . and then circled back to pick up the other friend who got left behind by the other friend . . . go fig', really . . .
