So it's about 8:30 now and the films finally start. And right off the bat we quickly learn what sort of audience this was going to be. We were rowdy, energetic . . . and above all, supportive. The entire night of 25 films, not a single poor statement was said out loud.
Every film got cheers, laughs, and props for how they either worked in their mandatory props (a white cat) or lines ("I thought I saw something in the mirror..."), or for how much raw meat fell out onto the screens. We were all there just for the sheer love of filmmaking, and all the bloody details involved with it.
And then this one movie showed up that got some people all excited next to us. It was their movie, and they were getting all geared up for its playing. I remember at that point talking to the guy a little, since we were already kinda joking and laughing and commenting about all the same things already.
Ah, "Altar of Blood", you hilarious little thing . . . and then when it was over and the credits were rolling, one of my friends went "oh hey, that was Scott McNeil!" And that's when we all perked up:
Holy shit, Scott McNeil was in that movie!
I turned to the guys next to us and asked, "how the fuck did you guys get Scott McNeil?!" Apparently they knew someone who knew someone. Suddenly this night just got crazy amazing.
(If anyone wants to see Scott McNeil in action against a cannibal cult, click on the "Altar of Blood" video on this page!)
So yeah. Scott McNeil. Gotta love that.
